How is it September already? The last time I wrote a monthly goals post in July I didn't manage to do 99% of the things I wanted to do seeing as I ended up being off work ill from about two days after I wrote the post until the middle of August. Now that I'm on the mend (or I will be when I have my op) I thought I'd try again and share some of the goals I've set myself for September. September's Financial Goals Since my last post in July when I bought Master Frugal's rather expensive school uniform, he's actually changed secondary schools so I had to buy another expensive uniform! It was … [Read more...]
Super easy zesty green bean and feta rice salad #LoveYourLeftovers
I'm not a great cook but I do like to experiment in the kitchen and often find that the best recipes happen totally by accident. This delicious zesty green bean and feta rice salad came about as I had some leftover rice that I wanted to do something to that would make it interesting enough to take along to a BBQ we'd been invited to.I only used what I had in (hence the green beans instead of the peas that I had thought of using first) and considering how delicious his was and how many compliments I got on it, I think it worked out really well. Zesty green bean and feta rice salad 600g … [Read more...]
Easy Packed Lunch Pizza Swirls…. #PowerofFrozen
I don't know where I'd be without my freezer and the second freezer that I bought has probably paid for itself twice over in the short time we've had it as it's given me space to not only store reduced food bargains that I find but also to build up a bit of a freezer storecupboard. The recipe I'm sharing today for Pizza Swirls is made using a lot of my freezer storecupboard ingredients so before I share the recipe, I thought you might like to hear a bit about some of the things I keep in my storecupboard freezer drawer.First up, I have a stock of ready made pastry. I love ready rolled … [Read more...]
My newfound herbal remedy for just about anything….
OK, so it probably doesn’t heal just EVERYTHING but my newfound discovery has been pretty much invaluable since I was recommended it by a friend at work.Tiger Balm Red is a little pot of amazing-ness and in the month since I bought my first pot I’ve used it to clear headaches, stop my mosquito bites from itching, clear my head when my strong painkillers make my head feel fuzzy and last week, it even worked as a muscle rub when Mr Frugal overdid the ‘friendly’ rounders game at Butlins.I bought my little pot on offer for £3 at Tesco (it’s usually £4) with the intention of using it to … [Read more...]

Easy corned beef hash….
Today I wanted to share one my of my favourite comfort foods - corned beef hash. I'm afraid there are no pretty pictures of this recipe and no amazing close ups to show you how gorgeous it looks because let's face it, corned beef hash isn't a pretty meal.No amount of clever photos or photo props are going to make it look anywhere near as good as this delicious meal actually tastes so I'm just going to go with it and hope you try it so you can see for yourself that it tastes way better than it looks. Simple but yummy corned beef hash 750g-1kg boiled potatoes (depending on how many people … [Read more...]
