1) I made a double batch of my homemade slow cooker tomato sauce and used it for various different meals this week - We had chicken wrapped in bacon with this over the top and some sweet potato fries, we used it as a pizza topping for our homemade pizzas as well as a sauce to go with homemade meatballs and spaghetti. They were all completely different meals so no one really noticed that this was a vital part of each meal.2) I haven't been feeling amazing this week so I made myself some camomile, honey and lemon ice pops to try and help my throat instead of dosing up on … [Read more...]
Have fun next week with these half term family fun ideas….
I don't know about you but I'm finding that keeping the kids occupied (and off their electronics) is becoming a bit of a challenge lately. I think it's a mixture of the miserable weather, the dark nights and the fact that we've all been ill over the last few week that's left us with very little energy to anything other than the essential stuff (school, work, social media - you know the stuff ;-)).But next week is half term and for the first time in about a month none of us are poorly (touch wood) so I'm hopeful that we can have lots of family fun together. We don't have much money though … [Read more...]
Soothing chamomile, lemon and honey ice lollies….
Last year when Miss Frugal had a sore throat, I made her some throat soothing chamomile, lemon and honey ice lollies which she declared were like 'yummy medicine' as they were just about the only thing that seemed to help soothe the pain.Last Sunday was the first time I'd had a sore throat myself since making these for Miss Frugal so I sent Mr Frugal to the shot for some honey and set about making myself a batch in the hope that they would help make me all better. Here's how I make my soothing chamomile, lemon and honey ice lollies 2 Chamomile tea bags 2 tbsp honey (more or less … [Read more...]
How I encourage the kids to help me around the house { Includes a free printable chore chart }….
Helping out around the house is an expectation in our house!I don't think it's unreasonable to expect everyone to help out because in my mind, we all live here together so no one person should be responsible for keeping our home clean and tidy. Generally everyone is quite good about doing their fair share but I do find that if I leave them to their own devices then nothing gets done.To make sure that everything gets done and there's no confusion over what job should be done by who, I've started using a chore chart to document the jobs I expect them to do on a daily and weekly basis. … [Read more...]
Let’s talk about what happens when you can’t afford to pay the bills….
I've written before calculating your monthly budget using my free printable budget planner but today I wanted to try and help with some advice about what you can do if you don't have enough money coming in each month to cover what you're paying out and you can't afford to pay your bills.I'm by no means an expert on this subject but I do know that if you realise that you don't have enough money to pay bills then you need to take action - sooner rather than later. I know that this might seem like a bit of an obvious thing to say but from experience (work not personal) I know that some … [Read more...]
OK Monday, let’s do this! 7 things to cheer you up on a miserable Monday Morning….
I don't know about you but I find Monday mornings are the hardest morning of the whole week, especially when it's still dark outside when we're waking up! The kids definitely seem to be grouchier and harder to get out of bed on a Monday and I always ending up hitting that snooze button one time too many on a Monday which leaves me feeling no less tired and if anything, more grumpy than I would have been as I've had more time in bed to think about how much I hate Mondays!Last week was worse than usual as I was feeling ill on the Sunday night so I relied on the kids to get everything … [Read more...]
