Happy Christmas Eve Eve!Tomorrow is my favourite day of the year and I can't wait for the kids to get up so we can get the day started with our traditional homemade pancakes and syrup breakfast. Knowing them, they're probably going to sleep until I get too excited and have to go and get them out of bed. ;-)We're having a relaxing Christmas Eve this year and don't have any plans to go out although I'll no doubt end up having to go and get something vital that I've forgotten. Sometimes we pop to the cinema after breakfast as our local cinema usually do the movies for juniors on … [Read more...]
Christmas Dinner Moneysaving….
I can't believe that it's only three sleeps until Christmas Day!One of my favourite things about Christmas Day is Christmas Dinner although I think that's probably because I don't have the stress of cooking the meal itself as we always go to my Dad's for the meal itself. It's usually all under control when we arrive and after enjoying an amazing meal, I don't even have to do the washing up afterwards (although I always volunteer). We usually have a gammon joint, a chicken and a side of beef to choose from and it's served with roasties, Yorkshire Puds and whatever veg my Dad fancies … [Read more...]
The Frugal Family Christmas Activity Advent- Make a paper Christmas wreath….
Yesterday was an easy day in our Activity Advent but we're stepping it up a notch today with a cheeky little craft! It's a simple craft but a craft never the less! All you need is a sheet of green card out of as you can see in the first picture above (I use a dinner plate and a side plate to make ours~) and some green paper that you can use to cut the leaves out of. I can guarantee that the kids will start off … [Read more...]

I'm sure we all know from experience that it's very rare that the run up to Christmas (and the big day itself) will go off without a hitch, a meltdown or even a disaster so what I wanted to share with you today are my seven super simple rules to make sure you have a great family Christmas even taking into account everything that could go wrong....Christmas Day is a day that we spend weeks, if not months, preparing ourselves and our homes for by the time the day arrives we (meaning me) usually have such high expectations of the perfect Christmas that we (again meaning me) stress out over … [Read more...]
Christmas Lemon and Ginger Cupcakes….
One of the tastes that I associate most with this time of year is Ginger. It's lovely warming taste and spicy smell makes me feel instantly Christmassy and as a family, we usually make a gingerbread house to decorate early in December and closer to Christmas we'll make some little gingerbread decorations for the top part of the tree (any food on the lower branches is claimed by Buddy usually).I thought about making a ginger caked today but I had some lemons to use up so I made some yummy lemon and ginger cupcakes instead. The tang of the lemon flavour goes brilliantly with the warmth … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {18th December 2015}….
The week before Christmas is a time that I find hard to be frugal and not be tempted by all the goodies in the shops that I know I really don't need and I do buy things that I wouldn't normally buy - it is Christmas after all....1. I tried to make some wall art for an extra Christmas surprise for Miss Frugal's little quote wall in her bedroom and it turned out really well - the only problem was that she came downstairs as I was finishing it off and fell in love with it so she ended up taking it back upstairs with her!The 'Throw Kindness Like Confetti' picture image was … [Read more...]
