Happy 1st Day of December!Today not only marks the official start of Christmas (according to my advent calendar at least), it also marks the first day of the most expensive month of the year for most of us.I've written lots of posts over the past few years about my ways to save money at Christmas but I know there's lots of ways that I've never even thought of which is why I thought it would be nice to have a bit of a Christmas money saving linky going on. I'd love you to link any and all of your Christmas money saving posts up this year so we can all share each other's ideas about how … [Read more...]
Six ways to get your day off to a good start….
One of my most popular posts ever is my post about the six things you can do before you go to bed that will make the next day better. In my work life, I'd call getting prepared for the following day the night before 'Setting yourself up for Success' and actually that's a good thing to call it in my home life to because there really are things you can do that will make the following day easier for you which in turn will make you happier.I've been thinking about what else you can do in your daily life to set yourself up for success and I've thought of a few quick wins (another work term;-)) … [Read more...]
70 Elf on a shelf ideas….
It's almost time for the Elf on a Shelf madness to start!Whether you love them or hate them, I imagine it's going to be almost impossible to avoid these little fellas from next Tuesday when they will descend on households across the country. If you haven't already got your elf then there are plenty of ways to take part in the Elf on a shelf tradition without spending a fortune buying the (creepy looking) elf and all of the associated paraphernalia.Have a look here for my budget version of Elf on a Shelf:Once you've got your elf and you're ready to go then you need some ideas … [Read more...]
How to have an organised December….
Not only can December be an expensive month it can also be an extremely busy month and looking at my diary, this year it's going to be even busier than usual! Between work, two different school's Christmas activities, doctors and orthodontists appointments and Christmas nights out I don't think I'm going to have chance to sit down all month. ;-)The problem I have is keeping track of it all!I need something that we can all see what's happening at a glance so we know exactly what everyone is doing and when!Mr Frugal for example needs to know if he can swap a shift at work at the … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {27th November 2015}….
I've been busy this week trying to get as much as possible done for Christmas because I like to be all ready for the 1st December so I'm free to enjoy the month of December without any stress or rushing about. I have to get things done as early as possible because I have so little time free in December between work, school events and other Christmas nights out and fun!1. I've had a trial run of the no-cook fudge that I want to make as a gift for my lovely team at work - they're all lovely people to work with and are really understanding if I have a poorly child or I need to leave early … [Read more...]
Couponing – the laid back way to do it….
I'm sure we've all seen the extreme couponing stories in the media about people who use discount vouchers and coupons to pay for a big chunk of their grocery shopping. These are people who really take their couponing seriously and fair play to them, they get some great discounts and save a huge amount of money.Personally, I don't really have the time or the inclination to search out these coupons and then visit the various different shops necessary to redeem the coupons that I find. Having said that, I do like a money saving opportunity and I certainly don't mind using coupons or vouchers … [Read more...]
