Last week, I shared my new discovery with you all, an app that you can use as a scanner, and this got me thinking that there must be lots of other things that can be replaced by an app these days.Looking through my phone, I have a few apps on my phone that replace something I used to have so I thought I'd share a few of them with you, starting with the most useful app I think I have on my phone - Waze. Now I know I mentioned this app a few months ago in one of my weekly ‘Five Frugal Things posts but having used it again last weekend, I’ve decided it needs a post all of its own!I’m not … [Read more...]
What did we do before the internet….
We've just got back from a last minute weekend cheap weekend away and although we had an amazing time, there was no Wi-Fi and practically no signal anywhere in the whole area which meant a long weekend with almost no internet access. I’d love to be able to say that life without the internet was all good and that I didn’t miss it at all but I’d be lying! As a blogger, I really missed not being able to check in on here and make sure everything was ticking over and I obviously missed being able to check in on Facebook and share my photos with you all on Instagram but they weren’t the main … [Read more...]
What’s a good price when it comes to home cooked meals….
I don't tend to think of the meals I cook in terms of how much they cost per portion because I often use food that I get reduced or things that I already have in the house but an article I read a while ago shared a few recipes that cost under 50p a portion.Lots of people were commenting how great it was that you could cook meals so cheaply but I must admit that I did look at some of the ideas and the tiny portion sizes and think that I could do better. But could I do better - is it really possible to feed a family of 4 on a £2 meal budget and still make sure that what you're serving is … [Read more...]
Is it just me or has Christmas started even earlier than usual this year….
Almost before Halloween was over, the Christmas goodies started appearing on the shelves and the flood of Christmas adverts started as soon as we turned over the page on the calendar from October to November.Even the Christmas Costa cups are out and as cute as they are, I'd much rather they weren't brought out until the start of December.Don't get me wrong, I'm all about being prepared for Christmas and my own preparations start long before November the 1st but that's not the point. We don't start any Christmas celebrations or do any Christmas family activities until the 1st … [Read more...]
Homemade Rapidough Style Game!….
Last Christmas I went to my friends house for a bit of a girls night and we had a lovely home-cooked meal, drank a little wine, did some Christmas crafts and then played board games for the rest of the night!I know, how rock and roll am I?One of the games we played was Rapidough and I loved it - as I was playing it, I was thinking how I absolutely HAD to go out and buy this for us to play as a family. The next morning however, when I was trying to describe how much fun it was to the kids, they just gave me a look and said it sounded a bit babyish! I tried to talk them round but … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {6th November 2015}….
1. Miss Frugal really wanted to go to a Firework display last night but the one in our town wasn't on this year and the only ones we knew about in nearby towns are notorious for the gridlocked traffic getting out of the areas afterwards. So instead of driving to one of these displays, we put our wellies on, wrapped up and headed to the beach with the dog where we got to watch hundreds of fireworks going off across the whole town.We didn't even have our usual sparklers in the garden this year but I liked last years photos that much that I thought I'd share them again. ;-)2. We … [Read more...]
