Here’s an interesting fact about me: I’ve never tried coffee!(OK, so I lied about it being an interesting fact but it’s necessary for you to know for the rest of this post so let’s pretend you found it fascinating.)When I say that I’ve never tried coffee, I really mean it – I haven’t even had a nibble of the delicious looking coffee cake they serve in the café near where I live and I certainly haven’t tried any drink containing it in any form.So when Mr Frugal ordered a Baileys Latte when we were on holiday I obviously didn’t even consider trying it, no matter how many times he … [Read more...]
Gorgeous cheese and pesto toasted baguette….
I wan't sure about the recipe I had in mind to share with you for today's #BetterWithLeerdammer sandwich idea but basically, I just served it to Mr Frugal for his tea and he loved it which is high praise from someone who's quite fussy with his food normally!Today's cheese and pesto toasted baguette is the simplest sandwich ever but it tastes delicious! All I did was cut a baguette in half and spread a layer of pesto on the bread before adding two slices of Leerdammer Light. I popped it under the grill until the cheese had melted and then spooned a little more pesto on the top before … [Read more...]

Mexican style cheese wrap with homemade salsa….
A couple of years ago I was trying to recreate a continental style breakfast like they do in hotels (can't for the life of me remember why though) and I came across a cheese in our local supermarket that looked a lot like the cheese you get served with so I picked up a packet. The cheese was Leerdammer and we enjoyed it that much that it's a regular in my shopping trolley now. It's brilliant to have in as it's so versatile - it's gorgeous on burgers, in a sandwich, melted in a toastie and even melted on top of chips on occasions.I'm not great at describing how things taste but if you … [Read more...]
Review: Brewers Fayre….
A couple of weeks ago, after a very lovely day out with the kids, we headed to our local Brewers Fayre to have a try of their new Chef's counter menu. The Chef's counter menu changes according to what day of the week it is and is basically an all you can eat buffet based around whatever the theme of the day is.Monday and Thursday are both curry nights, Tuesday is Mexican night, Wednesday is burgers and hot dogs and Friday is chip shop night. We went on a Wednesday as that seemed like the best night for fussy eating Master Frugal and it couldn't have been better for him.We were sat on … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {21st August 2015}….
There's kind of a holiday theme going on in this week's five frugal things post as we've booked a weekend away for this weekend. ;-) Five frugal things I've done this week:Despite knowing that this was the weekend we wanted to go away I only booked the holiday yesterday as I wanted to get the best deal possible. We managed to get an amazing deal with Butlins which is where the kids were desperate to go back to and it was cheaper than we were expecting to pay so I also booked adventure passes for them which are cheaper if you pre-book. I would definitely recommend leaving it until the … [Read more...]
