Five frugal things I've done this week: OK, I’m going to hold my hands up and admit that I don’t think I’ve actually done five frugal things this week. Or at least I haven’t done five absolute stand out frugal things this week so there is a very good chance that I may have to change the title of this post by the time I finish writing it.Not a big deal really but I’ve made a real effort to take my lunch to work with me this week. I’ve gotten out of this habit a little bit while the kids have been off school, probably due to our complete lack of routine at the moment. I’m at the stage … [Read more...]
Squabbling Siblings (and how to stop it before they drive you crazy)….
Aaaagh!I don't know about anyone else but three weeks in to the Summer Holidays and my usually laid back children have been arguing over the least little thing. I'm not exaggerating - the other day they actually argued over who was having which tea bag! It's so unlike them, just look at the photo I took at the start of the holidays when Master Frugal was getting his ear pierced....I tried to explain gently that it was upsetting me to hear them arguing when it was so out of character and that didn't work.So I took them out for the day and kept them occupied and having fun … [Read more...]
Living with Vertigo and Menieres Disease….
Mr Frugal suffers with Vertigo and Menieres disease which in turn has quite a knock on effect to the rest of the family. I'm going to talk about both things today but I'm deliberately not going to link to any medical pages or give you an explanation of the ins and outs of both conditions as I'm not an expert and I just want you to know the effect that they can have on a family living with vertigo especially. The reason I'm writing this post is because he's currently laid upstairs in bed instead of doing what he'd planned to do this afternoon. I just called to cancel his plans and the guy I … [Read more...]
Review: Vax Air Cordless Lift Vacuum Cleaner….
Hoovering has always been one of my most hated jobs around the house!I hate setting it up and pulling the silly wire out, I hate the actual hoovering and then finally I hate the putting it away part. And because of all this, I wasn't overly excited when the lovely guys at Vax asked me if I wanted to review one of their new range of hoovers. Our last (much hated) hoover seemed to be on it's last legs though so I gratefully accepted their offer and waited for my new hoover to arrive with very little enthusiasm. The day it arrived, I left it in the box for my husband to build and … [Read more...]
28 inspirational quotes to inspire our children with….
A few months ago Miss Frugal and I were planning to make some wall art for her new improved bedroom and we were searching Pinterest for a quote that she wanted to use for it. She kept going back to the same one but I was enjoying myself that much looking at quotes that I made her keep looking in case she found another one she liked just as much.We found lots that she loved but none that she connected with in the way she had with the quote she had chosen. I asked her why she liked the quote she'd chosen so much and she said it was because it encouraged her to try new things. We stopped … [Read more...]
Our review of the much talked about Nutribullet….
Miss Frugal has long been a fan of fruit smoothies and our smoothie maker is used on a daily basis. In fact, it's the main reason that I often pop to the supermarket on a night to check out the reduced section because if I was paying full price for all the fruit we use in smoothies then I'd never have any spare money! We have a lot of love for the smoothie makers (yes, we have two) we already have but for the last few months Miss Frugal has been coveting a Nutribullet. To be honest, I can't say I blame her after seeing the TV adverts but seeing as the smoothie makers we already had did a … [Read more...]
