This week I'm joining in with Marianne and her fantastic Time Traveller linky and I'm going to share one of our pre-blog holidays with you. We used to travel quite a lot when the kids were younger and even more so before we had them as I was a travel agent when I was younger and we took full advantage of the holiday freebies I was offered.I've got boxes of holiday photos in the garage and Miss Frugal and I often like to sit and look through them and there's so many that I could have chosen to share today but I chose this one because it's my happiest holiday memory. Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {26th June 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. We finally cancelled Sky TV! A few weeks ago Virgin Media installed the fibre optic broadband in our street finally and we got some quotes which would save us money as well as give us much better broadband but we've been waiting for the man to pop around to sort it. He came earlier in the week and we're all good to go with an installation date of 11 July so we've cancelled Sky and BT finally.I had a dreadful experience with Sky which led me to complain on Twitter but their Social team arranged for someone to call me and a lovely lady rang and … [Read more...]
Can you be a friend to your daughter as well as her parent?
Miss Frugal is almost 13 now and I think we have a great mother and daughter relationship. We're also friends. Now, I know some of you will be shaking your head at me saying that we're friends because I see lots of people saying that they're a parent and not a friend to their children and although I understand why people say that, I don't agree at all.Don't get me wrong though, I am a parent first and I always make decisions with my parent hat on but I do believe that there's a way to be both a parent and a friend to my daughter by sticking to a few simple guidelines. I respect … [Read more...]
School residential trips – certainly not Frugal but are they worth the money?
Master Frugal left last Monday morning for a three night trip to Edinburgh with his classmates. The trip cost around £150 and we were told that £40 would be a good amount of spending money to send them. Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {19th June 2015}….
Before I start, I need to point out that I've been feeling a bit fed up with myself this week (Master Frugal has been away for 3 nights and I've had an infection in my finger/hand making pretty much everything painful).Things are on the up now that it's Friday though - I have my boy back home and the infection has almost cleared up so I'm going to try and think of five frugal things that I've done this week although for the first time since I started this, I think I'm going to really struggle to think of five..... Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. We did find a good deal on a … [Read more...]
