Today's post is dedicated to my new favourite thing - Batch Cooking.Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to be one of those die-hard batch cooking people who spend a whole day every month batch cooking meals to last them for the next four weeks but I do want to take what I already do one step further now that I have a little more freezer space than I had before.I'm going to consciously cook more foods that I can double up on so that I can gradually build up a stock of meals in the freezer and I'm hoping to gradually up my game a bit and find more recipes that are freezer friendly and … [Read more...]
The Best Day Ever…. #WWE #WWENewcastle
Master Frugal is a huge wrestling fan so imagine how excited he was when we were asked if we wanted to go along to the Metro Arena in Newcastle on Thursday to watch WWE Live! From the day he found out we were going he was counting down the sleeps but, I think I was actually more excited than he was because I had a secret - I knew that the lovely, lovely people behind the WWE Live tour had arranged for him to meet one of the Superstars backstage. Honestly, it killed me not telling him but I knew if we managed to keep it a secret it would be such a great surprise. So we got there early on … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {10th April 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. The kids are currently enjoying their second week off school and although I've had to work a few days this week, I have managed to sneak in a few days holiday this week so we've been trying to have as much fun as possible for as little money as possible. We've done lots of free things this week like trips to the beach, trips to the park, bike rides and we've even taken advantage of Miss Frugal's bargain child gym membership for lots of free swimming. We spent a lot of time on the garden over the Bank Holiday weekend so they've also been spending … [Read more...]
How to track your child wherever they are….
Miss Frugal is almost 13 and is getting more independent by the day.I'm trying hard to let her go and to give her the freedom that she craves but as a parent, it's really hard to know where is should stop. If you have children yourself, regardless of how old they are, then I'm sure you know exactly what I mean - it's a fine line between keeping them safe and being too over-protective.If I look at her now compared to a year ago, I can see a huge change in here and it's all as a result of her going up to secondary school. You might remember how much I struggled with the decision to … [Read more...]
Wednesday’s Wardrobe – this week’s bargains….
Welcome to Wednesday's Wardrobe! In case you don't know, Wednesday’s Wardrobe is a weekly linky that I'll be co-hosting along with two fantastic bloggers, Emma and Sarah. It's something I really wanted to get involved with because, as you can no doubt imagine, with an almost thirteen year old daughter, clothes are a big deal here.I’ve had a bit of a disaster this week.Actually, I’ve had a few but this is my only clothes related disaster so as much as I’d like to have a good whinge about the rest of my issues, I’ll refrain and stick to the clothes relates one for now. ;-)Picture … [Read more...]
Homemade Doner Kebab {Slow Cooker} {Slimming World} {Fakeaway}….
Today I'm going to share with you my amazing homemade doner kebab recipe which I'm pretty sure you're going to love as much as we love! Mr Frugal is partial to the odd Doner Kebab - usually swimming in grease and smothered in garlic sauce - and without fail, he always regrets eating it within about an hour of finishing it.So, after hearing about a version of homemade Doner Kebab that you can make in the slow cooker I decided to give it a go and see if my own version could hit the spot like the greasy kebab shop version does.I looked at lots of different versions of this … [Read more...]
