Dear Me, Happy Birthday! Love Me x xDear Miss Frugal, It's great that you swept the kitchen floor for me to save me doing it on my Birthday. Next time if you could just finish the job by using the dustpan and brush rather than leaving the pile of mess in the middle of the kitchen floor for me to stand in and trail around the kitchen that would be awesome. Love from your frustrated at having to do it again Mother x xDear Master Frugal, I love that you bought me a present using your own pocketmoney but just a hint for next time - get me something I'll like and not something you want … [Read more...]
12 things you said you would never say but I bet you have since becoming a parent….
I remember being a little baffled (love that word) by some of the things my Mum would say to me when I was a child. The younger version of me used to wonder what jumping off cliffs had to do with going with my friends to the shop when I was supposed to be playing in the street and what was this benefit that I would feel when I went back outside? And as for our house not being a hotel, well I knew that already because if it was then I wouldn't have had to make my own bed every morning would I?So the younger version of me promised herself that she would never use these silly phrases when … [Read more...]
What won’t you give up to become debt free?
Lots of us have debt of some kind – be it a credit card, store card, a loan of some sort or even just a mortgage. Most of us will be able to manage the debt we have and can make the monthly payments each month with no real concerns but should we be satisfied by that? Shouldn't the real goal always be to become completely debt free? But at what cost, what would you give up in to become debt free? The reason I’m asking is because I saw someone online the other day asking for advice as she was beginning to struggle a bit making her credit card repayments and the first thing that everyone … [Read more...]
Dear Mum…..
Last week I shared with you the reasons I didn't really like Mothers Day and told you all that I wanted this year to be different. What I didn't say is that just before writing that post, I had written a letter to my Mum and although I'm still debating whether it's the right thing to do, I'm going to share my letter with you too.Not for attention or sympathy but because I have regrets, just small ones but it's not a nice feeling and I want you to know how I feel in the hope that you can put right anything you need to while you still can.Hi Mum,I can't believe that 10 years … [Read more...]
Fun science experiments you can do at home….
It's National Science Week next week so I thought we'd start the weekend with a nice little bit of science! Both of my children say that their favourite lesson at school is science and I can see why when I hear about some of the fun experiments they get to do. Master Frugal won a Headteacher's award for science last week and he's asked if we can do some science experiments at home 'instead of that crafty stuff'!So, I'm trying to do more science related activities with the kids at home which has been interesting to say the least. Not all have worked as they should have done (some have … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {13th March 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but Miss Frugal has a junior gym membership to our local gym which allows her to use all the facilities of the five leisure centres in the area. I initially dismissed the idea of a gym membership as too expensive but when I looked into it, it's actually really good value for money. She used to go swimming at least once a week at £2.25 a time so swimming alone cost £9 a month whereas now, for just £6 more she goes to a gym session a couple of times a week and fits in extra swimming whenever she fancies it. … [Read more...]
