I don't know about you but I seem to find myself being added to numerous Facebook groups recently and looking down the list of things I'd been added to the other day, I found a group that I thought I actually might like so instead of deleting it, I clicked on the link to view the group.I'm not going to name the group but the first post I read was a lady who had mentioned that she was feeding her children hot dogs for lunch. Now I know as much as the next person that there is very little nutritional value to a hot dog but the comments that this lady was getting from some people were … [Read more...]

I hope you're all having as much fun this half term as we are! We're trying to cram in as much as possible before I go back to work on Friday so we've been quite busy so far this week. We're almost half way through the week now though so I'm getting ready to hear those dreaded words.... Mam, I'm Bored. It's almost inevitable that someone is going to say them in the next day or two so I have my bored jar at the ready and I'm also armed with lots of ideas for things for us to do that aren't going to break the bank. Here's my top ten ideas for free activities that you can do together … [Read more...]
Mum’s can sulk too….
It goes without saying that I'm extremely proud of both of my children for many reasons but this post isn't about that. It's about what happened when I said the thing I said I would never say to my children.... This house isn't a hotel so don't treat it like one! I said I'd never say it because I always want my children to feel comfortable in their own home and to know that they're always welcome and that they can always bring their friends round (which they do - a lot). I've made sure that they have comfortable bedrooms that have space for them to play and it pleases me that they both … [Read more...]
Tasty Spicy Chickpea and Mushroom Stew {Vegetarian} {Free on Slimming World}….
In my mind, there's two different types of cooking. There's the cooking you have to do to feed your family and then there's the cooking you do for fun, usually for me that's because I have an ingredient or an idea I want to try.Just lately, we've had so much going on that I haven't had time for the fun side of cooking. In fact, I've probably only just been managing to keep up with the feeding my family type of cooking if I'm honest! But tonight, I went in the fridge for something and found some mushrooms that needed using up so I decided to have a play. The resulting meal was … [Read more...]
Family Photo Walk – a stroll through the park….
Hasn't today been a gorgeous day?I've had the windows open, the washing on the line and I'm feeling happy because the sun's shining and I have a few days off work with the kids this week.We decided to start something we've been planning for a while this afternoon to take advantage of the good weather - we went on our first family photo walk. We first talked about this a few weeks ago because Master Frugal would like to start taking more photographs and Miss Frugal would like to start going out for walks to different places. A family photo walk is the two combined which should keep … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {13th Febuary 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. This isn't a massively frugal thing but we've been shopping for new fridge freezers this week and despite falling in love with a big American Style one, I chose a smaller and much cheaper one that has more freezer space than we have in our current one. I took a photo of the model number and came home to see if I could get it cheaper. I managed to get it £25 cheaper as I found a discount code on the 02 Priority Moments app so I'm really pleased I didn't buy it there and then!2. I've discovered a free car park that I can park in when I pop into … [Read more...]
