It's weird how a certain food or drink can remind you so much of someone isn't it?Every year, we used to go to my Nana's house to decorate her Christmas tree for us and every year (from when I was about 11) she used to reward me with a snowball - obviously weaker when I was younger but by the time I got to 18 they were were lethal and I always had to pop out to the kitchen to top up with extra lemonade. Now every time I see snowballs in the shops or I taste one, it makes me think of my lovely Nana and every year at this time, I buy a nice bottle of advocaat and have a drink to her. … [Read more...]
Moneysaving at Christmas….
Christmas can be an expensive time of year for most of us and it's so easy to overspend on things you don't really need and end up paying the price in January (and beyond)!I've put together a little list of things that help me to save me money at this time of year in the hope that some of them will also help you to save a little bit too. A lot of them are genuinely common sense and you're probably already doing most of them but it's always worth a quick reminder, isn't it? ;-)If you're not going to be visiting someone until after Christmas then you could always buy their presents in … [Read more...]
#SecondHandChristmas….
What are your thoughts on buying gifts for people from a charity shop?Personally, I have no problem with it and at least a few of the presents that will be wrapped up under the tree on Christmas morning will be second-hand.Don't get me wrong though - I'm very fussy about what I buy, especially when I'm buying gifts as I always like to buy something that I know the recipient will love. Something they'll know that I've put thought into and chosen because I know how much they'll like it.Not long ago I was asked to pop along to our local Salvation Army charity shop and see what I … [Read more...]

I don't know about you but for me the whole month of December seems to disappear in a blur of christmas parties, nativity plays and carol services. I decided on either post it notes … [Read more...]

Protect yourself from Fraud….
Did you know that Fraud cost the people of Britain over £600 million in 2013?I had no idea that the figure was that high although I do know that fraudsters seem to be getting cleverer by the day if the spoof emails I receive on a daily basis. Some of them are so authentic that it's no wonder people fall for them and end up giving their details to a fraudster. But it's not just spoof emails you need to be aware of because there's so many other tactics that fraudsters are using these days - in fact, I bet you've never have even thought of some of them, let alone thought about how to … [Read more...]
