Thanks so much to everyone who linked up a Fabulously Frugal post last month. I really do want people to see that being frugal and thrifty isn't the same as being tight or stingy and that there are some many easy and fun ways to save money so the more people who share their posts, the more chance of that happening. As promised, I've pinned them all of the posts to my 'All things thrifty, frugal and money saving!' board on Pinterest and I wanted to share my favourite two on here as well:Just click on the photos to visit the posts. It would be great to see even more of you joining … [Read more...]
There’s no place like home….
Last month marked our five year anniversary of living in this house and although I still stalk Right Move at regular intervals during the year, I do love living here and can't see us moving any time soon. It's a new build house that we bought while it was still being built so we got to choose all the fixtures and fittings and once it got to a certain stage of the build, the developers were happy for me to just pop in and wander around while I pretended that I needed to measure something but really just wanted to see the house again, just to imagine what it would be like with us living in … [Read more...]
Christmas Cupcakes – Snowball cupcakes with Advocaat frosting….
It's weird how a certain food or drink can remind you so much of someone isn't it?Every year, we used to go to my Nana's house to decorate her Christmas tree for us and every year (from when I was about 11) she used to reward me with a snowball - obviously weaker when I was younger but by the time I got to 18 they were were lethal and I always had to pop out to the kitchen to top up with extra lemonade. Now every time I see snowballs in the shops or I taste one, it makes me think of my lovely Nana and every year at this time, I buy a nice bottle of advocaat and have a drink to her. … [Read more...]
Moneysaving at Christmas….
Christmas can be an expensive time of year for most of us and it's so easy to overspend on things you don't really need and end up paying the price in January (and beyond)!I've put together a little list of things that help me to save me money at this time of year in the hope that some of them will also help you to save a little bit too. A lot of them are genuinely common sense and you're probably already doing most of them but it's always worth a quick reminder, isn't it? ;-)If you're not going to be visiting someone until after Christmas then you could always buy their presents in … [Read more...]
#SecondHandChristmas….
What are your thoughts on buying gifts for people from a charity shop?Personally, I have no problem with it and at least a few of the presents that will be wrapped up under the tree on Christmas morning will be second-hand.Don't get me wrong though - I'm very fussy about what I buy, especially when I'm buying gifts as I always like to buy something that I know the recipient will love. Something they'll know that I've put thought into and chosen because I know how much they'll like it.Not long ago I was asked to pop along to our local Salvation Army charity shop and see what I … [Read more...]
Your fridge door NEEDS this – the key to an Organised Christmas (Free Printable)….
I don't know about you but for me the whole month of December seems to disappear in a blur of christmas parties, nativity plays and carol services. Add to that my own Christmas nights out and shopping days and that's a lot of dates to remember without even thinking about the essential dates like when I have to have my secret Santa gifts wrapped and ready for and when I have to order my turkey by!I feel like from Mid-November onwards, I need something visual to remind of where we need to be and when so after a quick think, I narrowed it down to two ideas. I decided on either post it notes … [Read more...]
