I remember the week before Miss Frugal started school well.I remember it because I spent most of the week (or what seems like most if it) sewing little name tags into all of her clothes.By the time Master Frugal school a couple of years later, I'd discovered iron in labels so I only spent an afternoon getting their uniforms labelled up and ready for the start of school.By the time they were both in junior school I had labeling clothes down to a fine art and several years later Ican now label every item of clothing in less than 10 minutes!Want to know my secret? It's this … [Read more...]
Five free things to do this Summer #5….
Well, another week's flown by hasn't it! There's not long left until they're back at school so we're busy packing as much fun as possible in. I loved last week's guest post from Jen as her five free things to do this Summer were completely different to what I would have thought about doing so I've asked another great blogger to share her ideas to see if I can get some more inspiration!Over to you Angela....I’m Angela and I blog at The Life of Spicers. I have a 7 year old daughter (and also a grown up one). The Summer Holidays don’t have to cost a fortune; there are plenty of ideas … [Read more...]
10 ways to be the most organised parent at school….
Here we are, just two weeks left until school starts again! I have no idea where the time is going but the last four weeks have just flown by.There have been times (more than I care to admit) in the past where weekday mornings getting ready for school have consisted of tears, a little bit of shouting and the odd phone call from the school to say the kids have forgotten their packed lunches!Lots of things make for a stressful morning, some of which can't really be planned for - like the child who wakes up in a foul mood for no reason at all, the sudden poorly tummy that has more to do … [Read more...]

An artistic field trip thanks to Nintendo….
Ever since we were asked to be Nintendo family bloggers at the start of the year we've been lucky enough to receive some brilliant parcels through the post from them.So far, Master Frugal's favourite delivery by far has been Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U which is even better than the previous versions of Mario Kart Wii with new power ups and new characters along with options to customise your karts. The game play is more fun too and even I manage to complete a course without falling off the track a million times like I used to. I love Mario Kart 8 better than the others because you go … [Read more...]
Who knew that painting T-Shirts could be emotional….
I knew it would only be a matter of time before highly individual Miss Frugal decided that she wanted to have a go at making or customising her own clothes. In fact, I probably should have seen it coming when she came downstairs one afternoon a few weeks ago having turned a long skirt she has into a strapless dress adding a wide leather belt and some feather ear-rings. To be fair she looked amazing but I don't think her dad or the people of the car boot sale were ready for her brand of style so she was sent back upstairs to find an actual top to go with her skirt! But it was definitely … [Read more...]
