It's the 10th Anniversary of the release of the film Mean Girls today!Ten years ago I watched the film while Miss Frugal was just a baby and Master Frugal wasn't even thought about.Today, the film is 10 years old and Miss Frugal is 11 (going on 15). She's getting ready to start senior school in September where she'll no doubt face some, if not all of the teem traumas in the film. She's going to come across some mean girls (even meaner than some that she's already encountered) and she's going to learn that no matter how hard she tries, she can't please everyone. … [Read more...]
10 things to do with leftover chocolate….
{Updated for 2017} I know in some houses, leftover chocolate is about as unusual as leftover wine is in this house but we always have lots of chocolate left over after every Christmas and Easter.Even though we only bought the kids one egg each this year, they still seem to have accumulated a few extra from grandparents, friends and the various clubs they go to but I know they won't eat them all as they're not big chocolate eaters usually. I don't like to see anything go to waste so I've been looking through my old posts for ideas for using it up. Biscuits Our super easy biscuit recipe … [Read more...]
Baking Day – Nintendo style….
After the success of our sticky lemon muffins on Friday night, we thought we'd have a go at making some of the lovely looking recipes on the recipe cards that Nintendo sent us last week. Please be warned, our finished cakes look nothing like the ones in the picture because I let Miss Frugal make them on her own while I had a lazy bubble bath and the biscuits don't really look like I wanted them too either as we had no yellow food colouring so the stars are more orange than yellow.Anyway....We used Cookie Girl's recipe to make our Red Velvet Mario Mushroom Cakes but we added some red … [Read more...]

A clean house is the sign of a wasted life. Right?
We've all heard (and some have probably used) the phrase ' A clean house is the sign of a wasted life' haven't we?And what about this one? Both great mottos for life and I actually kind of agree with both of them if I'm honest. But, even though there's nothing wrong with a bit of dust on the TV cabinet or a carpet that needs a bit of a hoover or even a skirting board that needs a clean, I do always feel happier if things are clean and sparkly as well as tidy.I'be been introducing more things to help me keep on top of a clean and tidy house lately and it seems to be working … [Read more...]
