At the minute there's lots of posts around the internet about making sure that children have less screen time and how too much screen time can be damaging to our children.Firstly, I want to make it clear that I don't disagree with the idea that too much screen time is bad and I do strongly believe that every family is different and you need to do what you think is right for your children and your family. But, and there's always a but, I do have a slightly opinion about screen time that I wanted to share with you and even though I'm sure lots of you will disagree, it works for … [Read more...]
You can tell mum’s a blogger….
I've been blogging for a good few years now and I don't think that the kids can remember a time when I didn't blog, they've grown up with it being part of their life and there's certain characteristics that I've noticed they've developed that the child of a non blogger may not have or may not understand....1. They are so NOT camera shy - they're used to being photographed constantly to the point where they enjoy being on camera most of the time. In fact, every time I open my phone or iPad lately there's a whole new batch of selfies waiting to make me smile!2. They wouldn't dream … [Read more...]

My week in Instagram – 18 January 2014….
Another quiet week here this week although we've made sure that we've been out for a walk/scoot/bike ride every day to get some fresh air before getting changed in to our pyjamas and snuggling in at home. This time of year isn't great for getting out and about doing things but we're trying - it's difficult though when you just want to come home, shut the curtains and block out the cold dark night isn't it? … [Read more...]
Teaching children about Money – profit and loss….
Welcome to this week's teaching children about money post. This week it's all about profit and loss which probably sounds a bit complex and a little unnecessary for children to know about but actually it's really relevant to them and we had fun learning all about profit and loss together. My aim at the end of these exercises was to help them understand the basic idea that a business needs to sell something (either a service or good) and make a profit in order to stay in business. If a business doesn't make a profit then it's unlikely to be able to pay it's bills and may have to … [Read more...]
25 things to do as a couple this year….
Mr Frugal and I have always had date nights and electronic free nights but we haven't been spending as much quality time together as we usually do lately. Not for any particular reason although I think the fact that one or both of us has been ill almost continuously for the last couple of months together with the usual lack of money to do much at this time of year hasn't helped. It's so easy to forget that you need to pay attention to your partner as well as the kids/dog/work/housework/goldfish but it really is important so we've got a couple's to do list for this year. We did this a few … [Read more...]
