Both of my children are wishing away their childhood at the moment - they're at the in between age where they want to be older so they can be more independent and do new things but at the same time they're not ready to let go of some of their childhood cuddly toys.Miss Frugal who loves to play dress up, experiment with her make up and style her hair to within an inch if it's life always reaches for her favourite teddy when she's tired or feeling the need for a cuddle from him for whatever reason.Whenever we go anywhere that involves a night away or she goes on a sleepover, I can … [Read more...]
Fashion Friday – the one with the Converse obsession….
Gone are the days when I could choose either of my children's clothes for them. I remember when I used to be able to lay their clothes out on a morning and they would put them on happily without a murmur. These days Miss Frugal and I very rarely agree on clothes - mainly because of the grown up nature of a lot of the clothes in the shop aimed towards her age group. She sees her idols on TV and in magazines wearing grown up clothes so naturally when she sees them in a shop in her size she wants to wear them herself. That's when I have to explain to her that some clothes are not suitable … [Read more...]
How to make a super quick bracelet holder….
If you have a daughter around the same age as Miss Frugal then you may be familiar with the bracelet obsession that she's currently going through (and has been for the last year or so actually).Like most girls, she loves any kind of jewellery but in particular she has a bit of a thing for bracelets - she buys them cheap at boot sales, she gets given them by my friends, her friends always bring her one back from their holidays and she's got lots that she's made herself. She has numerous friendship bands, bangles, sparkly ones, beaded ones, charm bracelets, One Direction bands... You name … [Read more...]
Why you should use your slow cooker more often….
Convenience - This morning, like most mornings, I had to have both the kids and myself ready to leave the house by half past seven in order to get them to breakfast club so I could get to work on time. After school, I picked up one child, came home for half an hour and then went back to pick up the other one. I then picked up Mr Frugal from work and we came home, all hungry and ready for tea. I had tea on the table in about ten minutes because I'd taken two minutes (literally that long) to add a couple of handfuls of frozen onions, a packet of mince, some water and stick cubes to the slow … [Read more...]
Listography – Top five life lessons….
I have good news - Listography is back this week and it has great theme for it's return! What are your top five life lessons? Mine started out different to this but when I read it back to myself it was a bit cheesey and filled with cliches so I thought I'd just share some lessons I've learned in the past few weeks.... 1. Always be specific!Last week when we were shopping, Miss Frugal came across a big box of reduced make up including some bright red lipsticks. I told her she could choose something but not the red lipsticks but then I decided that really, it didn't matter what … [Read more...]
Saturday is Caption Day – The one with the giant heads….
Master Frugal has a giant head - it might not look that huge but seriously, it's massive! He's actually quite proud of his over-sized head though because apparently it means that he has more brains than everyone else in the family. This he likes to remind us of frequently ;-)This week, when we went to our local museum to see an exhibition of props and costumes from Sci Fi films, he was over the moon to find what he said was 'one of his kind'! I'm told that it's one of the aliens from Mars Attacks (never seen it so I have no idea) and I'm pretty sure that Master Frugal is … [Read more...]
