One of our favourite days out this Summer so far has been our day at Harry Potter World as guest of Citroen who invited us to have a test drive of their new C4 Picasso – which is strange because I hate driving and we’ve never made it past the second or third Harry Potter JWe were amazed first of all at the Harry Potter fanatics that were there from all over the world and the sheer number of visitors queuing to get in. Luckily we didn’t have to queue and got to go in through the back way (I’m sure the kids think they’re some sort of VIPs) and the attraction itself is organised so well that … [Read more...]
Five ways to make going back to school stress free (and save money at the same time)….
Going back to school doesn't have to be stressful and it doesn't have to cost you a fortune. My two are aged ten and eight so it could be the fact that we've done 'back to school' so many times that makes me so laid back about it but really, it's not worth worrying about every little detail. Honestly ;-)Don't worry! Easier said than done I know but don't worry about every little thing. It doesn't really matter if you have enough shirts or enough pairs of trousers. Trust me, the shops won't suddenly stop selling uniform as soon as they go back to school so you've got plenty of time to … [Read more...]
Monkeying about at Knowsley Safari park….
You know when you go to a safari park and people spend more time looking at your children than they do at the animals…..A few weeks ago we were invited to Knowsley Safari Park by the lovely ladies at Jungle Dogs and after a great event with some lovely food (who knew you could do so much with a hot dogs) all the children were given onesies. Not just any onesies though, these were the best onesies in the world (the label said so it must be true) and were all animal themed so we got a crocodile and a pandaInstead of leaving them in the bags until we got home (wishful thinking?), … [Read more...]
Miss Frugal takes on the great bloggers bake off challenge….
I know I always say that I want to encourage my children to enjoy cooking and being in the kitchen but lately, I'm pretty sure that Miss Frugal has gone from simply enjoying cooking and baking to being a little bit obsessed by it ;-)She's been baking lots more than usual lately - she's started to follow a recipe herself rather than me just telling her what to do cupcakes and more often than not, the end results looks better than something I would have made. And this week, she was so excited to see the return of The Great British Bake Off on BBC2. Everything stopped while we … [Read more...]
I’m not proud of this….
I may have lost any hope of winning any Mother of the year awards tonight ;-)I got in from work today and Miss Frugal sat me down, made me a cup of tea and gave me one of the cupcakes she made the night before last. They were both playing on Minecraft so I put my feet up and was catching up on my emails when one of my friends rang to see if we wanted to pop round - she offered to make me a cuppa so off we went - electronics in hand to keep the kids quiet while we were having a chat. Both kids were good as gold and played together quite happily while we had a good chat over a cuppa but … [Read more...]
How to keep children entertained on long car journeys….
A few weeks ago, we went on a car journey - A very long car journey which was made even longer by the fact that the roads were very busy.Despite this, we arrived at our destination a good seven and a half hours after setting off without hearing the words I'm bored more than once or twice and I'm almost positive that you want to know what my secret is, don't you?Well....First of all, each child had their own car bag (we used the Content and Calm tray kits that we were sent a while ago) which I packed for them with the following things:A reading book. A notebook - I printed … [Read more...]
