I started writing this post a while ago when we were having a cheeky week away in Southport and due to the lack of Wifi and the nine million and twelve other things that make up my to do list but I never actually got around to finishing it until now....I have a happy place, a place in the world that makes me happy just by being there. This place brings back many memories of family holidays when I was younger -holidays that involved me, my Mam, my Dad and my brother and I treasure these memories all the more now that my Mam and brother aren't here with me anymore. My happy place is … [Read more...]
The best bits of Week 3 of our Summer Holidays….
After the madness of last week at Butlins and everything we did while we were away, we've tried to have a much more relaxed week this week although we've still done quite a lot in as I'm concious that I'm back at work tomorrow for the next two weeks so we won't be doing as much then. So this week Miss Frugal has had her ears pierced, we've been to Knowlsey Safari Park and Lightwater Valley, we've built boats and sailed them, had a picnic at the park and played frisbee and family baseball, been to our local museum and even managed to fit in a pyjama day while we watched movies and played … [Read more...]
A not so great app for children….
Did you used to have a Tamogotchi? It was one of those little electronic pets that you used to have to take care of and if you didn't they got sadder and sadder until they eventually died. I used to have one and for the first few weeks, I used to make my Mam take care of it while I was at school. After that the novelty wore off and it was relegated to the back of a drawer somewhere and must have eventually been thrown out.Anyway, the point of my question was because last week I was trying to explain what a Tamogotchi was to the kids and they told me there was an app that their friends … [Read more...]
#SatCap Saturday is Caption Day – The one with the wrestlers bottom….
I'm not sure how I can introduce this photo other than to tell you that I took it last week at Butlins and the wrestler in question had just been catapulted off stage by someone bearing a strong resemblance to the cowboy from the Village people. It might not be a great photo but I think I caught the action at just the right moment, don't you? Also, I'm in two minds as to whether the cheerleader in the corner is all 'Hey Baby' or if she's traumatised by what she's seeing. Not it's your turn, you get to caption the photo by leaving me a comment below.Have fun x … [Read more...]
Urgent Money Saving – Do you wear a uniform for work….
I've just read on the MoneySavingExpert website that if you are required to wear a uniform (even just a t-shirt) for work and you wash, repair or replace it yourself, then you could be eligible to reclaim tax you have paid and although it doesn't add up to too much per year, I believe that you can apply for repayment for the past four years which will get you a nice little repayment that could come in handy. It's worth looking into if you can say yes to the following:You wear a uniform that shows you've got a certain job, like a branded t-shirt or a full uniform. You are required to … [Read more...]
Today we sailed, we sunk and then got robbed….
Today we decided to enter the Tots100 Center Parcs challenge (although to be fair we decided to do this at the weekend and the heavens opened as soon as we opened the door to the craft cupboard) which meant that we had to build a boat and then sail them.I was torn between taking over the making over the boats so that they would at least float for a few minutes and I had visions of a lovely one made of pastel coloured paper with a lovely floral Cath Kidston sail but in the end, I decided to let the kids do their own thing.Which is why we ended up with two bright looking crafts that … [Read more...]
