If you were going to buy a TV, you'd make sure you were getting the best deal on the TV you wanted wouldn't you?So if you're planning on going out for the day you really should be spending a few minutes before you go to make sure that you're paying as little as possible to go wherever it is that you're going. It takes hardly any time at all to do and could save you a fair amount so it's definitely worth taking the time to look around to check what the best deal is. These are the sites that I check whenever we're planning to go somewhere....1. The attraction's own website2. … [Read more...]
Planning the best Summer Holidays ever – Part 2….
Lots of us are in full Summer Holiday countdown mode this week - ours break up on Friday so the fun officially starts on Saturday, or so I've been told. I've worked hard over the last few month so I have some extra hours to take over the holidays and I'm so pleased that I have over half of it off with them. But I think because I've worked the extra couple of hours here and there and kind of feel like I've sacrificed time with them (and others) over the last few months I feel a little bit pressured to make these holidays brilliant. It's just a shame I don't have a brilliant budget to go with … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the easy week….
I'm so pleased the weather is still nice this week because we didn't get much chance to get out in it last week with poor Master Frugal being poorly. Miss Frugal is away with the school until Wednesday night and Mr Frugal is working lates tonight and tomorrow so for the next couple of days there's just me and Master Frugal after school and we plan to take full advantage of the weather. Monday Tonight we've had scampi and oven chips and garden peas with corn on the cob after we bought some packets of breaded scampi reduced from £6.00 to £1.50 in our local Tesco. Don't get me wrong, it was … [Read more...]
It’s been HOT here this week (and I don’t mean the weather)….
It’s been a very, very long week here this last week.Followers on Facebook and Twitter may have seen my neurotic mother tweets on Tuesday as Master Frugal’s temperature climbed up to 39.8 with Calpol hardly bringing it down at all.We had him to A&E on the morning after a run in with our Doctors receptionist who told me that all appointments were full and if it was that urgent that I should go to A&E – so I did. I was so worried though as he was so hot and just couldn’t stay awake – at one point he was walking back from the toilet and he just sat down and fell asleep! The nurse … [Read more...]
A letter to Katie Hopkins….
Dear Katie Hopkins,Last week I was mildly irritated when you made some (in my mind) ridiculous comments about how you judged children by their names. I watched the clip on YouTube and like the vast majority of people who did, cheered when Holly Willoughby put you in your place by cutting you off while you were speaking. But life's too short to worry about things I can't control so I moved on and forgot all about you.But then today someone has kindly filled me in on your opinions about ginger babies and this time, at the risk of sounding like a corny Hollywood movie, this time it's … [Read more...]
How to make friends….
When Master Frugal moved up into reception class, his confidence took a massive hit. He struggled with his reading which not only had a bit of a knock on effect on all of his learning at school, it also affected the way he saw himself. He thought he was 'stupid' and 'not as clever as the other people in class' and I think this is what caused him to almost retreat into himself a little as he made no attempt to make friends and was often on his own at play times which always made my heart break a little when he told me as I felt so helpless to do anything. It got to the point where he was … [Read more...]
