I'm not sure how I feel about these subscription boxes that are popping up all over the place. You know the ones I mean, don't you? One of the things I was planning to do when I did my living room makeover last weekend was to get some large ornate style photo frames and frame some wallpaper samples rather than wallpapering a whole wall. I was a bit disappointed that I never managed to do this as I couldn't find the style frames that I was looking (I'm still on the lookout though) but today I have done something similar in my kitchen and I think it looks brilliant.I bought the frames from Ikea this afternoon and they're cost £2 for the smaller frames and £4 for the larger one. On Saturday I shared some photos of my living room before my Bank Holiday makeover and today I'm almost finished so I thought I'd share the after photos with you.It hasn't gone quite according to plan as I still have one wall to paint and I didn't manage to find any large frames to hang my wall paper samples in so I still have my old picture up at the moment. Usually on a lovely long weekend like this one, I'd be out and about with the kids making the most of our time off together but this weekend is a bit different. Small things that make me smile {March 2016}….
This month hasn't been the best month for us and to be quite honest, there's been a couple of times when I just wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. Master Frugal didn't get into his first choice school even though his sister goes there already which turns out to be an error as they didn't take that into account due to missing paperwork but even knowing that, the school is so over subscribed that I have to appeal to see if he can have a place! My Super sneaky sleepover tip to get younger kids settled earlier….
Miss Frugal has always loved a good sleepover with her friends and over the years we've had a lot of them!Sleepovers are very different to what they used to be now that she's 13 (and a half ;-)) because the kids are sensible enough to know that whatever they're doing, they need to do it quietly because Miss Frugal understands now that if they're not quiet, then I will hear them and next time she asks for a sleepover, I'll say no!It's much easier for a teenager to understand the need to be quiet but it's not so easy to expect younger children to simply go to bed when they're told and … [Read more...]
