Have you noticed that it's been a bit quiet around here this week? That's because last Thursday we decided to have a last minute cheeky week away so we booked a late deal to Pontins in Southport and that's where we've been since Saturday night. We have no TV (actually we have one but it's broken and the three visits to reception haven't resulted in a working TV), the Wifi is practiclly non existent and half the time we can't even get reception on our phones to send a text message but thinking about it, that's probably why we're having so much fun! We've managed to find more games that … [Read more...]
Is it really the thought that counts….
This morning I got up really early to catch up on some work before everyone else got up and chaos descended over the house. Instead, I made the mistake of having a look on eBay and Facebook before getting started - just for a few minutes you understand.Except I saw a link on Facebook to a recent news article that made me stop and think just how ungrateful some people could be. So I decided to write about that instead of doing the things I needed to do!Basically the story was about a bride who, in a series of texts to one of her guests, was extremely rude to one of the guests about the … [Read more...]
They’re going to have ‘the talk’….
For the last month or so Miss Frugal has been excitedly telling me that her class at school are due to have 'the talk'.I've absolutely no idea why she's been so excited about this talk as it's not even the sex talk, it's just about puberty and growing up and she's already quite clued up about that. They've been told at school today that the talk is going to be happening on Monday afternoon which is unfortunate as Miss Frugal isn't actually going to be at school on Monday as we're away for a long weekend this weekend. Understandably, she's devastated ;-)After watching her pout like … [Read more...]
Finding Bargains on eBay….
I know a lot of people have gone off eBay a little bit over the last year or so as there aren't as many bargains on there as there used to be. In my experience though, there's still plenty of bargains on there - you just have to try a bit harder to find them.I have a few 'tricks' that I use to find bargains and because I'm lovely (really I am), I thought I'd share them with you....Local eBay bargains You can pick up some great bargains from sellers in your area using a site called Local Bargain Finder which searches for items near to where you live. This not only means you don't … [Read more...]
Seven ways to spend less on fuel….
I drive a 25 mile round trip every day to work which I know isn't much compared to a lot of people's commute but to us, it means that petrol makes up a big part of our monthly budget. But it is possible to change your driving habits a little to make the best use of your fuel so you can get the most out of it.Keep your tyres inflated to the correct pressure. As well as making your car more fuel efficient, it's also safer for you and your passengers. Don't use your air conditioning unless you have to - just wind a window down. Turn your engine off as soon as you reach your … [Read more...]
Men! (And by men, I mean specifically my man)….
Today I asked Mr Frugal to tidy his computer desk up.A not unreasonable request considering that it seems to have become a bit of a dumping ground for everything from homework to bills and from Moshi Monsters codes to random bits of paper with children's scrawl written all over them but you'd seriously have thought I'd have asked him to take a hammer to it judging by his reaction.I'll give him credit though, after a bit of general life's unfair whinging and some muttering under his breath about how he shouldn't have to do things on Father Day, he did make an effort to tidy it up. And … [Read more...]
