Last Sunday something traumatic happened to me.Before I tell you what happened, I understand that it may not have been as traumatic to you if it had happened to you but to me, who takes photos of everything so I never miss a moment or a memory, it was traumatic. So, I came downstairs on Sunday morning, all bleary eyed and in need of caffeine and found Master Frugal fast asleep under a blanket on the living room floor with his arm around the dog who was also fast asleep. My first thought, naturally, was to grab my phone so I could take a picture before either of them woke up or moved to … [Read more...]
Thrifty Thursday – Five frugal things I’ve done this week….
It's been a bit of a busy week here this week but I've still had time to save some money - I even managed to make a bit of extra money as well....I'm not sure if it's a new thing or not but my latest energy bill has a section on that tells me what I would be paying on each of my suppliers tariffs. I noticed it when I got my bill earlier in the week as it said that there was a new online tariff that would save me some money so I rang them and changed over. I do review my energy suppliers every six months or so to make sure I'm on a good deal but I was really pleased that my … [Read more...]
Three apps that give you free calls and texts on your mobile phone….
For those of you who have a Smartphone but don't have unlimited free texts or calls there's some great apps around that allow you to get free calls or free texts to other users who also have the app downloaded. The one I use at the moment is called Viber which looks to be available to the majority of phone types. It's free to download and one of the reasons I like it is that it's ad free so you don't keep having to dismiss annoying adverts for other apps! Viber works by connecting to … [Read more...]
Meal Planning Monday – the looking for inspiration edition….
Can you believe it's June already?I don't know about you but at this time of year, even when the weather isn't great, we tend to eat differently. We eat a lot less of the comfort food style meals like mince and dumplings and macaroni cheese and a lot more simple meals that take less time and energy to prepare - yeay.We change our meal plans in the Summer for a few reasons. I think it's mainly because when it's nice outside we want to be outside as much as possible so quick meals are great to just throw together whenever we get in with very little planning or preparation needed. We … [Read more...]
Budget Bathroom Makeover….
None of the rooms in my house need a major makeover as it's only a few years old but what it does need is an injection of colour! When we bought the house it was new and almost completely magnolia - which we weren't keen on but because there was nothing that actually needed doing, we just never got around to doing until the last year or so. It's slow going though as its hard to spend money on something that's OK as it is just because you think it's boring! So when I was asked to by Money Supermarket to makeover a room in our house for £50.00 (which they provided), I jumped at … [Read more...]
