Every week I tell you about five frugal things I've done to save some money and whilst some things might not be as frugal as others, everything I share is something that I think is frugal or thrifty for one reason or another. But I wanted to do something a bit different this week, I wanted to share some things I've done that aren't very frugal at all - not because I haven't done anything frugal but because I don't want you to think that I'm some sort of frugal wonder-woman who excels in all areas of frugal-ness (is that even a word).1. I bought a packet of Lemsips - … [Read more...]

6 things you should say to your children EVERY day….
I tell my children that I love them every single day and I can't imagine not saying these three words to them or ever not hearing them say it back to me.But I Love You isn't the only phrase than I make sure that I say to them every day....I love you! I want them to feel safe and loved and although words aren't as important as actions, they're a pretty good start! How was your day? I want to share in their lives as they grow up and I like knowing what they've been up to. We usually talk about our days while we're having tea each night and usually share the best thing that's … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {28th August 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week: 1. After our visit to a Lavender farm this week I've used the lavender I came away with to make lavender sugar. I'll write a post up about how I did it but it's super simple really and once the lavender has infused itself into the sugar I'm going to bake with it - Lavender Shortbread is the first thing on my list!2. We were away last weekend and we had some gorgeous weather which was a surprise as we were expecting a pretty poor weekend weather wise. The sun was shining though and as I'd been expecting poor weather, I'd left the sun tan … [Read more...]
Gorgeous cheese and pesto toasted baguette….
I wan't sure about the recipe I had in mind to share with you for today's #BetterWithLeerdammer sandwich idea but basically, I just served it to Mr Frugal for his tea and he loved it which is high praise from someone who's quite fussy with his food normally!Today's cheese and pesto toasted baguette is the simplest sandwich ever but it tastes delicious! All I did was cut a baguette in half and spread a layer of pesto on the bread before adding two slices of Leerdammer Light. I popped it under the grill until the cheese had melted and then spooned a little more pesto on the top before … [Read more...]
Five Frugal things I’ve done this week to save money {14th August 2015}….
Five frugal things I've done this week:Today is my last day at work until September and I honestly could not be more excited. We have so many things that we want to do and we're planning a family conference tonight over takeaway (paid for with vouchers I earned by sharing Zeek with you all) and plan our fortnight. I used Tesco Boost and with my points I managed to get enough vouchers for a lovely meal an Pizza Express, another meal out at a pub chain that I can't for the life of me remember the name of and a day out at Ocean Beach theme park. Not bad for free! It's always … [Read more...]
What happens when you let your 12 year old go back to school shopping on their own….
This time last year we'd just spent a fortune on a whole new school uniform to buy for Miss Frugal as she was going up to secondary school. As is the case with lots of schools, the uniform list is extensive with much of it only being available directly from the school or from certain suppliers - all costing more than I could have got it for elsewhere.Even the pencil case and calculator were £10 and 'highly recommended' for students and obviously, she wanted this as she didn't want to be the only one not to have it.Fast forward to this year's back to school preparations and it's been … [Read more...]
