I briefly mentioned last week that Master Frugal has been unwell recently last week so I won’t go into it too much today other than to say that we've had his blood test results back and although they can't say what's wrong yet, they can say it's not one of the 'big' things that we were worrying about. We have to go back again for more tests in a couple of weeks but we're just happy at the moment that whatever it is isn't as bad as we thought it could be!In the meantime, we thought we'd try and help with his problem of getting to sleep at night by giving him a bit of a bedroom … [Read more...]

My version of a Greggs Cheese and Bacon wrap….
I always loved a good Greggs pasty for a treat when we're out and about but it's only recently that I've discovered the delights of a Greggs cheese and bacon wrap - they're so delicious but even better than that, they're so easy to make yourself at home! How to make your homemade version of a Greggs cheese and bacon wrap.... You need: Puff Pastry 2 rashers of bacon per wrap that you plan to make. Grated cheese, depending on how cheesey you want your wrap to be but I use around 30g of cheese per wrap. Beaten egg or milk to brush the pastry with.First of all, you need puff pastry … [Read more...]
#SecondHandChristmas….
What are your thoughts on buying gifts for people from a charity shop?Personally, I have no problem with it and at least a few of the presents that will be wrapped up under the tree on Christmas morning will be second-hand.Don't get me wrong though - I'm very fussy about what I buy, especially when I'm buying gifts as I always like to buy something that I know the recipient will love. Something they'll know that I've put thought into and chosen because I know how much they'll like it.Not long ago I was asked to pop along to our local Salvation Army charity shop and see what I … [Read more...]
#FrugalGiftGuide – Tween and Teen Girls….
Like lots of people, I'm not as frugal at Christmas as I am throughout the rest of the year but I do like to make sure that I get the best deals possible and that the presents I buy aren't going to sit in a drawer or on a shelf gathering dust. I don't think you need to spend a lot at Christmas and I know it's not all about the presents but realistically all of us have gifts to buy for our loved ones and I wanted to share some ideas for some great gifts that I've come across. My first gift guide is aimed at people buying for girls from about Year 6 upwards and it's based on my experiences of … [Read more...]
Have an attitude of gratitude….
Every week for about the last six weeks, I've read Polly's lovely 52 weeks of gratitude post and every week I've commented to say how lovely her post was and how important it was to be grateful for the small things in life. I've probably even said a few times that I would be joining in and writing my own but I've never got around to actually doing it until today. This is my favourite time of year and I love that the nights are drawing in - we had a gorgeous walk on the beach in the dark one night last week and we loved it. It turns out paddling in the sea is even more fun in the dark … [Read more...]
Greed….
During this Summer's World Cup tournament, Master Frugal decided that he did like football after all. He's always enjoyed playing it but the World Cup seemed to really hold his interest and not only did he start to enjoy watching matches, he started to learn the players and appreciate the amazing skills some of the players have as well as developing a dislike of the divers and the biters that made the headlines during the tournament. When the World Cup ended, he had a few new heroes to look up to and a new found enjoyment of all things football. He even asked for a football kit … [Read more...]
