Winter's really setting in now isn't it? It's so cold here tonight so this week's meal plan is filled with lots of Winter warmers ;-) Monday - Smoked mackerel risotto. I've blogged the recipe below for you as this is delicious and something I would never have thought of cooking. Tuesday - Sausage and bean casserole with mash. What do you spend on Christmas….
It's OK, I don't really want to know how much you spend ;-)But I do want to share with you something that I've found out recently about the amount that parents spend on their children each year. Research shows that in 1995 the average British family spent around £75.00 per child at Christmas with this figure increasing massively to an average spend of £168.00 per child last Christmas.I'm not sure if the increase is due to the fact that parents are willing to spend more these days or if it's because things cost so much more now. The top item on Miss Frugal's wish list this year is … [Read more...]
Club rules….
Miss Frugal and her friends have a club. I've absolutely no idea what they do in their little club, I just know that when they have their meetings at our house they giggle a lot and require me to supply lots of jaffa cakes. They have their own club rules and everything....Shame they don't stick to the rules judging by the amount of arguing over that goes on who's the boss of the club ;-) … [Read more...]
Family Friendly Frugal Meals – Cheats Naan Bread Pizza
Guess what? After more than two months of being ill and four (possibly 5) courses of antibiotics and steroids, I think I actually feel better! I have gone a whole day without having a mad coughing fit and I have my voice back enough that I can actually hold a conversation without squeaking at some point. This weeks meal plan reflects the fact that I finally feel able to cook properly again - we've had lots of slips up recently where I have been too tired/ill/miserable to cook so we've had more ready meals and takeaways lately than I would like to admit but in my defence, I just haven't … [Read more...]
How to have a Frugal Christmas – Free Santa letters….
Even though Miss Frugal is still undecided about whether or not she actually believes in Santa, we've been writing our annual letters to Santa this afternoon. Actually, for someone who might not be a believer, she's asked for enough things - an Ipod touch, a buggy, a till and Hello Kitty 'stuff', whatever that may be! That's Santa in his sleigh in case you weren't sure....I love Master Frugal's, he's asked for a Nintendo 3DS and a camera so nothing too expensive there then ;-)We use the Royal Mail Santa Service to send our letters to Santa - As long as your child's letter states their … [Read more...]
