Miss Frugal likes to think of herself as a very stylish 8 year old. She has a big box filled with handbags and purses (she must be one of the only 8 year olds around who has a Radley purse) and she has more pairs of shoes than I have. She's quite a girly girl and loves to wear dresses, skirts and anything else pink or sparkly. Although I often don't love her clothes choices, she has her own style and I encourage that wherever possible by letting her choose all of her own clothes.I'm quite laid back about the clothes that she wears (she'd say the opposite) and she does have a few … [Read more...]
How to make Club Penguin Puffle cakes….
Have you ever wondered how to make Club Penguin Puffle cakes? No, me neither, but when the lovely people at Club Penguin said they wanted to send us all of the ingredients along with the instructions to make some, the kids squealed and jumped up and down until I accepted their offer ;-) You see, my two are HUGE Club Penguin fans, in fact, only today we've had massive excitement when Miss Frugal's penguin reached Ninja Penguin status which is a very big deal if you are 8 and 6! Yesterday, our long suffering postman brought us our Club Penguin parcel so by half past nine we were making Club … [Read more...]
Our Girly Weekend in London….
A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to be invited to London Zoo for the day by Vosene and although we were all invited, I decided to leave Master Frugal at home with his dad and just take Miss Frugal for a girly weekend. The purpose of the Vosene event was to let us know that they are on the hunt to find the Vosene Family of 2011. Basically, each month they are focusing on a different value such as, sharing, belonging, fun, time together and trust and they're be asking families to upload a photo and up to 100 words on what that means to them. Once uploaded, your family and friends get to … [Read more...]

Life is good again….
A month or so ago I wrote about taking Miss Frugal to the hospital to see a specialist about the headaches and dizzy spells she's been having. The specialist we saw spent a good hour examining her and then sent her to play with the toys before telling us that he'd been examining her to look for signs of a brain tumour as some of the symptoms she described pointed to that. She said she didn't think that was what was causing the dizzy spells and headaches as she was missing some of the main signs. She had an ECG and they told us to come back in a month and they would consider a brain scan if … [Read more...]
What I don’t want my children to know….
I want what every parent wants - for my children to grow up feeling safe and loved but also confident and independent. I think I've mastered the safe and loved bit but as a natural born worrier, I have to try really hard to encourage the kids to be confident and independent which is really difficult for me. I never want them to know how much I worry when they play out with their friends and I can't see them, or how my heart's in my mouth when they ride their bikes too fast or even how it breaks my heart when one of them comes home upset because they've fallen … [Read more...]
