I love how children think.... Master Frugal's teacher asked all the children in his class to write a list of reasons why they thought they were lucky which I think it's is a really good idea, especially with all the world events recently. He brought his list home from school with him today and even though he told me he forgot to write McDonalds on there (Bad Mummy Alert ;-)) I think it's brilliant! We don't have snakes or werewolves. Dinosaurs are dead. We don't live in a volcano. We have an XBox 360 and get to play Lego Star Wars. Our mams and dads love us so much. If … [Read more...]

Tell me it's not just me that thinks this is ridiculous - is a school bell not supposed to be noisy and intrusive? It's almost as bad as the kids being able to buy sweets and drinks at the school discos but not being allowed to eat … [Read more...]
Magic Mince….
When I first started meal planning, I found it a bit daunting - the idea of cooking something from scratch every night was a bit much for me and I was sure my limited recipe repertoire would meant we'd be eating macaroni cheese at least 5 nights a week. Right now, crammed into my freezer, I have a big lasagne, a fish pie, a cottage pie and lots of single portions of meal leftovers (all home made) so that I can make a quick and easy tea when I get in from work. I really could do with … [Read more...]
Magpie Monday – More Bargains….
The first bargain I want to share this week is the outfit I bought for Miss Frugal's first grown up disco the week before last. She was so excited about this disco as it's the first one since she went up to the Juniors and even though she'd been talking about it for weeks beforehand, it wasn't until the night before that she decided that she wanted a new outfit to wear.I told her she didn't need new clothes as she had plenty in her wardrobe and marched her upstairs to prove my point but her bedroom looked like a jumble sale - she'd already tried almost everything in her wardrobe … [Read more...]
