We've made a set of story cards before (here) and we still play with them every now and again so I thought we could make a Halloween set of cards so we could tell some spooky Halloween stories this week.Last time we made our story cards using a mix of some cut up birthday cards and some rather pathetic looking drawings but today I thought we could do some colouring as well so I printed out some Halloween colouring pictures from here. (All you need to do is select Halloween, the number of cards you want and select the black and white version so you can colour them in yourselves.)We … [Read more...]
Pocketmoney – How much?
I think this must be the longest I've not blogged for since I started blogging, I just haven't felt like it so much lately so I thought I'd have myself a little blogging break. I've been enjoying time with my children which, ultimately, is what this blog's all about and now, after a week off, I'm back, not exactly refreshed but I'm here anyway ;-) and I need some advice. Our Chore Chart has been up and running for the last week and it's been pretty successful so far. Pocket money day is now fast approaching - In fact, it's been and gone once but we went out for the day at the weekend … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Not Just any Lizard….
When I saw that the theme for this weeks Gallery was RED, I planned to get Miss Frugal all dressed up in the cute red devil outfit that the lovely ladies at Tescos sent her but then today, Master Frugal came home from school with this Lizard. It's not just any lizard, it's a very special lizard. They're only given out to little boys who get all of their spellings right in the weekly spelling test at school! Yeay....Only a couple of weeks ago I was really worried because he just had no interest in learning and seemed a bit behind his friends so I asked all my wonderful Twitter … [Read more...]
Crazy Colours….
It's funny how you forget the things you used to love doing when you were young and then something reminds you of it and you get to have fun all over again with your own children. The other day I read a fab post from Cathy at Nurture Store about wax crayon pictures and remembering how much fun I used to have doing this, I couldn't wait to try it with the kids. All you need for this is a piece of paper, some wax crayons and something to scratch out your picture (we used a wooden skewer).Colour in your whole sheet of paper using different colours, it really doesn't have to be perfect and … [Read more...]
A Romantic Love Note….
Who say's romance is dead.... First I was presented with a fluffy Rolo from Mr Frugal and today I was the lucky recipient of a love note........Written in the fat from the burgers we had for tea last night! We always make our own burgers but I couldn't be bothered to cook much last night as we've all got the dreaded lurgy. I dug out some burgers from the depths of our freezer and we decided to have burgers in buns and curly fries with corn on the cob. I can't believe the amount of fat that came of the burgers, it's disgusting - we'll definitely be sticking to our homemade ones in … [Read more...]
Jobs For Kids….?
As far as I can tell, if you have children you can't have a tidy house. It's one or the other and I seem to have opted for the children and messy house scenario. My two just do not understand the 'put one away before you get another one out' rule and move like mini whirlwinds from one toy to the next which doesn't exactly help my quest for one of those beautiful, tidy homes that I see in the glossy magazines that I religiously buy each month. So, in my quest for a tidy house, I've introduced chore charts for the kids. I've only included the super simple jobs at the moment that they … [Read more...]
