Cathy at NurtureStore has come up with a fantastic idea - The Play Academy, which I'm going to take part in each week. Here's my first entry: It sounded like such a simple craft session when Miss Frugal asked if we could make bookmarks. She's at the age now where she is starting to read independently and she will happily sit quietly in the corner reading to herself and she's starting to enjoy the books that she reads - at the moment she's reading The Twits and it's quite funny to watch her reading, every now and again she'll start to laugh or she'll look really surprised at something she's … [Read more...]
We’re back, did you miss us…?
We're back from our weekend at Haggerston Castle feeling refreshed and chilled out and ready for anything! Yeah right - two kids, two adults and a visiting teen in a caravan does not make a relaxing break lol. To be honest though, even if it wasn't relaxing, we had a fantastic time and I'll tell you all about it soon (I bet you can't wait now, can you?).We got back home at dinnertime today and after a quick nap (the kids, not me), we were ready to pop to the shops to get a bit of food shopping in and to spend our Tesco vouchers on a treat each for the kids as they were so good this … [Read more...]

Just like your Mum used to make….
Hi, my names Cass and I have a cook book addiction! When I get a new cook book, I hide it on top of the fridge until the kids have gone to bed, then I pour myself a nice chilled glass of wine, turn the TV off, lock the door and settle down to spend some time getting to know the new addition to my little cook book family. I read it from cover to cover, turning each page slowly, while imagining myself in my own kitchen preparing and serving the delicious creations that I'm reading about. Then, when I'm finished, I place it lovingly on my cook book shelf where it stays forevermore, … [Read more...]
The Gallery – Playtime (as chosen by a 7 year old)….
I love this weeks Gallery theme - Playtime. I could have spent all day going through my photos trying to choose just a few of my favourites to share with you but I thought that I would ask Miss Frugal to choose the pictures for me today and I'm quite surprised by some of the ones that she picked. So from a seven year old's point of view, our definition of playtime is a bit of cooking, a picnic, a game of crazy golf, some theme park rides and a soak in the paddling pool - oh I wish I was that age again! … [Read more...]
School Uniform Moneysaving….
I'm starting to get ready for the kids going back to school in September, we need new book bags, new packed lunch boxes, new shoes and new uniforms!!! There's no money saving to be done in the new book bags and packed lunch boxes as the kids are extremely choosy about what they want here, apparently, Miss Frugal could not possibly go to school with a plain pink packed lunch box as it's absolutely essential that she has the new Hello Kitty one that she's seen and as for Master Frugal, I tried to suggest he used the same Scooby Doo book bag and was met with absolute outrage. I have been … [Read more...]
