Even before I had children I worried about bullying. In fact all through both pregnancies I had nightmares about it and I never ever wanted to hear that either of my beautiful babies were being bullied. So you can imagine how I felt when Master Frugal came home on Thursday and told me that a little boy (known as Brat here on in) had been told off for bullying him that morning. He said that he was sitting on his chair eating his breakfast when Brat walked right over to him and pushed him off his chair and then shoved him out of the way. He said that the teacher told Brat off but he didn't want … [Read more...]
Homemade Burgers….
We decided to have our homemade burgers tonight instead on Monday as Mr Frugal decided he was starving and fancied a Big Mac. There are stacks of recipes on the internet that use breadcrumbs and eggs and other faffy bits but ours are just basic and easy. We always split 500g of lean beef mince into two bowls because we both make our own. Mr Frugal just squishes (that's the technical term lol) his pile into two burger shapes and sticks them under the grill whereas mine are a bit more technical.I add a chopped chilli and two chopped garlic cloves to my mince and squish my mix together. As I … [Read more...]
My Favourite Things….
Hayley over at Single Motherhood Challenges has just blogged about some of her favourite possessions which got me thinking what mine were.....This is my special things cabinet:I got the cabinet from my dad about a year ago and I remember asking people what sort of things they collected as I was going to start a grown up collection to fill my empty cabinet. At the time someone said that I would be surprised how quickly it would fill itself without any effort from me and they were so right. The big letters spelling LOVE were a pressie from Mr Frugal last year, although to be fair I picked them … [Read more...]
Homework Hell….
Right, everyone think of five sentences that describe Florence Nightingale. Done? Now use 4,32,28,+,- and = and makeup as many different sums as you can, then if you wouldn't mind drawing and labelling a plant. If you can do that, you have successfully completed Miss Frugal's (aged 7) homework!I presumed she would know the Florence Nightingale bit but no, she couldn't remember anything about her other than she was a nurse. Thanks god for Google eh!Just so you know (in Miss Frugal's words) :Florence Nightingale was trained to be a nurse. She liked to help the soldier men.She was born in 1820.She … [Read more...]
Dear Spammer….
Dear SpammersI really don't know where you all got my e mail address from although I suspect that I must be on the country's most gullible people database, but I would like to request that you refrain from e mailing me a gazillion times a day trying to sell me your super potent viagara tablets or trying to interest me in a penis extension. A waste of your time and mine as I understand that you need a penis to partake in either of those things and I most definately do not have one (although I will forward the penis extension e mail to Mr Frugal).Whilst I have your attention, I am also … [Read more...]
Yummy Carrot Cake….
I normally bake with Miss Frugal because (a) she loves to make things, (b) she is at the age where she is able to do things for herself and (c) she doesn't try and eat everything in sight every time I turn around. Yesterday, however, my baking buddy deserted me to go to her friends for a sleepover so I was left with Master Frugal to be my helpful assistant. To be honest he was more of a hindrance than a help but he had fun so it doesn't really matter if he ate more of the mix than I managed to get in the oven!I've never made a carrot cake before and was really surprised by how moist and yummy … [Read more...]
