I have just found two bananas hiding at the bottom of my fruit bowl that are looking a but past it. Rather than throwing them out (as I usually would) I decided to see if I could find a way to use up these sad looking specimens....There are loads of recipes out there on the internet using bananas but the simplest one that I have found was for Fruity Banana Bread.Ingredients100g sugar,75g Margarine,200g plain flour,2 teaspoons baking powder,2 eggs,2 bananas,50g dried fruit.First of all you need to cream the margarine and the sugar. Then mix in the eggs and add the two mashed up bananas. Mix in … [Read more...]
Making Decorations….
I popped to B&Q; earlier on today and they are have reduced a lot of their Christmassy things, to be honest I was a but dissappointed with the range as I don't think they are stocking nearly as much as last Christmas but I was pleasantly surprised at the sale they had on. I didn't really go to look at the Christmas stuff, I went for some wallpaper inspiration but while I was there it would have been rude not to have a look wouldn't it?I found some plain white felt christmas tree ornaments reduced to 24p so I bought four thinking that the kids would have a bit of fun colouring them in.However, … [Read more...]
Nana, Where’s me Grandad?
We have had a very Christmassy day today, it was Master Frugal's nativity play this afternoon and he has been really looking forward to us going to see it as he was playing the Ghost of Christmas Past and has been practicing his lines constantly for weeks. The performance was by the nursery and reception classes so the children were all 3 and 4 years old, I think the teachers did a fantastic job and they were quite relaxed about the usual waves to the audience and kids leaving the stage to give their moms a hug. I had tears in my eyes from laughing at one point when Mary stood up and said, no … [Read more...]

Dirty kids are healthy (and happy) kids….
And no, that's not just me saying that to avoid the housework ;-)Apparently, scientists are advising parents that a bit of dirt can be good for children. they have discovered that being 'too clean' can lead to the skin having problems with healing. Just in case you don't believe me, the full article with all of the technical scientific bits is here.Does this mean that I can say that it is for the good of my kids that I am sat on the settee watching Jeremy Kyle instead of cleaning up? … [Read more...]
Home Made Pizza Recipe….
We had home made Pizza for tea tonight - the kids love making this and always eat every bit of it, probably because they think things taste better when they make them.I don't usually have any yeast in the house and never buy any especially to make pizza as home made pizza to me is to use up any leftovers in the fridge and not to go out and buy something extra. So the base that I use is like a scone type base and the recipe is probably the easiest thing ever to make. All you need is 2 1/2 cups Self Raising flour, 30 g butter and 1 cup milk. To make dough, just rub the butter into the flour and … [Read more...]
