Now that I am back at work and on Slimming world, I need to sort out my lunches. The canteen at work is ridiculously priced and there is nothing else near to where I work so I have spent a fortune in there in the past. I now need to make and take frugal lunches that are yummy, filling, frugal and slimming....I regularly don't get away from my desk to eat and as I work with a computer I have been suffering from eye strain and headaches - to the point where I thought I needed glasses. The optician told me that I didn't need glasses but I needed to take more regular breaks so I am going to do … [Read more...]
Making a Dad Survival Kit….
I can't believe that I am back at work tomorrow.... I am gutted as I have loved spending time with the kids. I thought that they were back at school but they don't go back until Wednesday so I am trying to make a Dad survival kit as Mr Frugal is at home with them tomorrow and Tuesday and I don't want them sat in front of the TV all day.My first idea was baking and decorating fairy cakes as the kids love this but Mr Frugal is not so good with cooking so I have weighed out all of the ingredients and written out some super basic instructions so hopefully everything will go well.I spent the last … [Read more...]
The importance of eating together….
I know that everyone says that it is really important for a family to eat together but in reality that is sometimes easier said than done isn't it?I have just been having a look around the internet for some more packed lunch box ideas and I came across a site called http://www.dinewithoutwhine.com/. (A.C. Nielsen Co.)- Family dinners are more important than play, story time … [Read more...]

Homemade Boomerang….
I sat and watched CBeebies with the kids for an hour or so this afternoon and we watched a show that looks like the modern day version of 'Why Don't You'. Can you remember watching that when you were little? I used to love it every school holidays - there were loads of ideas on things to make or do.Anyway, we saw someone making a homemade boomerang with some card and three lolly pop sticks. They made it look so easy that we decided to try it:You need three pieces of card about 8cm x 4.5cm, we cut ours from an empty cereal box and we decorated them with felt tip pens to make our boomerang look … [Read more...]
Kitchen Disaster….
I knew it was too good to be true, everything has been going so well on the cooking front lately.Last night, I decided to make some chicken and vegetable soup and being the perfect Domestic Goddess that I am (not), I started by making my chicken stock from scratch. I must admit that I found this part really easy as I was following the step by step instructions on the blog 'A shade of lavender'. Unfortunately, once my chicken stock was made, I decided to go it alone as I had read somewhere that you can't go wrong when making soups.... I can now confirm that whoever said that was blissfully … [Read more...]
