I want to tell you about some daily habits that changed my life for one reason or another although some of them might not be what you were expecting from me. I know the title sounds all zen and you might expect some deep and meaningful daily habits to be included in my list but tit's much more practical than that. These are simple daily habits that I've done to make me a happier person and I think they'll work for most people. You might notice as you read down the list that all of my daily habits are based around either the morning or bedtime which is deliberate because they're all about … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did during our kitchen makeover….
Usually on a Friday, I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up but this week, I thought I'd share some of the frugal things I've done during my kitchen makeover. It does mean it's a bit 'spendy' but I think I've got a brand new looking kitchen for a fraction of the price so hopefully you're good with that. Hey! 👐1) I went into a lot of detail about the actual spray painting part of the kitchen makeover on Monday so I won't go into too much detail but it's definitely worth a read - … [Read more...]
Why I’m not having Laser Eye Surgery….
I've just got back from an appointment to find out if laser eye surgery would work for me so I thought I'd tell you all about it. Spoiler Alert: I'm not a happy bunny right now! 🐰About six months ago I had an eye test because I was aware that my long-distance vision wasn't as good as it used to be and I wasn't surprised to find out that I needed glasses to put that right. I don't have to wear them often but I've always had such good vision that it frustrates me a little even to need them a little bit. (Irrational, I know)I started to do some research into … [Read more...]
Where to sell your unwanted furniture….
Wondering where to sell your unwanted furniture? Here's some ideas for you... When I first bought a house, all of my furniture was either a donation from a relative of something bought second hand because it did the job for the right price rather than because it was something I particularly liked. Then I discovered Ikea and other places where I could buy cheap furniture so I started switching out my old hand-me-down pieces for that kind of style on a budget but I discovered shabby chic partway through that phase and started buying old pieces to upcycle. And now, well now I'm all about classic … [Read more...]
Kitchen Cabinet Painting – Before and After….
Today's post is all about my kitchen cabinet painting adventures over the weekend! Our house wasn't even built when we bought it so we were lucky enough to be able to choose the layout of our kitchen and also choose from a (limited) range of doors, handles and worktops. I say limited because our budget meant that we didn't really want to be paying extra for the premium range so we stuck to the basic range which meant that we wouldn't need to pay any extra. There was still enough in the basic range for me to choose something I loved though and after much deliberation (and … [Read more...]
Nutella Thumbprint Cookies….
Remember last month when I said that Master Frugal had a cheeky idea to transform our Jammy thumbprint cookies into Nutella Thumbprint cookies? Well, he only went and did it...These Nutella thumbprint cookies turned out amazing although I'll be honest, they're not how I would have made them. I would have replaced some of the flour with cocoa like I would if I was making a chocolate sponge cake but we didn't have any cocoa powder in so rather than wait, he decided to melt a bag of bourneville (dark) chocolate button and pop that in the mix. It turned out so well though so I forgave … [Read more...]
