Remember last month when I said that Master Frugal had a cheeky idea to transform our Jammy thumbprint cookies into Nutella Thumbprint cookies? Well, he only went and did it...These Nutella thumbprint cookies turned out amazing although I'll be honest, they're not how I would have made them. I would have replaced some of the flour with cocoa like I would if I was making a chocolate sponge cake but we didn't have any cocoa powder in so rather than wait, he decided to melt a bag of bourneville (dark) chocolate button and pop that in the mix. It turned out so well though so I forgave … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {26th March 2021}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. Hey! 👐1) It's Master Frugal's 16th Birthday next week and one of the things he's asked for is Fifa Points for his Xbox which I absolutely HATE paying for. It feels like the game itself is expensive enough and then you're encouraged to spend even more money on the in-game purchases which just feels wrong to me.Master Frugal doesn't have a problem with it … [Read more...]

Are Charity Shops too expensive?
What do you think - are charity shops too expensive these days? So, any regular readers here will know that I'm a huge fan of charity shops and love to grab a bargain but even I've noticed that a bargain these days is more expensive than a charity shop bargain used to be. 😟Obviously, the high street shops have been closed for a while now but lots of the big charities (and some of the smaller ones) have online charity shops which I shared a little while ago and at the time, someone sent me a message to say she used to love charity shop shopping but that she felt they were … [Read more...]
How much does it cost to pass your driving test…
How much does it cost to pass your driving test? Good question...When Miss Frugal turned 17, the only thing she asked for as a Birthday present was her Provisional Driving Licence so she could start learning to drive as soon as she possibly could. She was super keen and determined to pass her test as soon as she could. She had to wait a while to get in with the instructor she wanted to learn with and by the time she got going, she only managed about five week's worth of lessons before the world went a bit mad and everything had to be put on hold. Once we realised that … [Read more...]
What happens when you let a teenager plan a Sunday Dinner….
Ever wondered what happens when you let a teenager loose in the kitchen to plan a Sunday Dinner? Read on and I'll tell you... Last weekend it was Mother's Day here in the UK and my two lovely children decided they were going to treat me to a Sunday dinner cooked by them. Two very quickly became one as Master Frugal was lured away by his Xbox very early in the planning stages of the meal and didn't emerge again until the Yorkshire Puddings were ready to be taken out of the oven.Which left Miss Frugal who, despite being older, is probably the least capable of my two in the kitchen. Her … [Read more...]
