1) Last weekend the kids (and us if I'm honest) really fancied a cheeky takeaway but we managed to resist the temptation by making homemade pizza. ;-)I'm sure I've shared my recipe for pizza dough before but it's basically 500g bread flour, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 300ml warm water and 7g dried yeast. We've always made this by hand before but I've been making it in the breadmaker since I got that for Christmas and it's just as nice. The tomato base is my homemade tomato sauce but I blend it down some more for pizza sauce when I'm making it for the kids as they're not keen … [Read more...]

Slimming World on a Budget {Week 1}….
I know that lots of people are starting diets, new fitness routines and healthy eating plans now as part if their 2017 goals so you're probably sick of reading about them all but I'm jumping on the bandwagon today and kicking off a new series on the blog to share my progress as well as any tips and tricks I pick up along the way.I'm going to be following Slimming World as I lost over a stone last year with them and didn't find it difficult to slot in with my family's usual meals. I would have lost more and would have been a lot closer to my target weight right now but when I fell ill my … [Read more...]
How much SHOULD you be spending on your weekly shopping?
One thing I often get asked is how much people should be spending on their weekly shopping and I always struggle to answer it because what's right for one family isn't necessarily right for another. My secret to an organised freezer….
This post is probably going to make me sound more than a little obsessed with freezer organisation but I'm not that bad, honestly. I just think that if you have an organised freezer then life is easier. ;-)I'm lucky enough to have three freezers - one as part of my fridge freezer, one under the counter freezer that we bought last year and one that we've just been given that lives in our garage. The one in the garage is pretty big and has a LOT of space over 5 biggish drawers and I was probably more excited than I should have been when it arrived a couple of weeks ago.I try to be quite … [Read more...]

Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {30 December 2016}….
1) We had gammon and lamb as our Christmas Dinner meats as we're not huge turkey fans here and we had plenty of leftovers as I'm sure we all did. ;-) We all had gammon sandwiches for lunch on Boxing Day with most of the gammon leftovers but the last bits were made into a quiche which we had for tea with leftover potatoes cooked in our Air Fryer with a little olive oil drizzled on them to crisp them up.My Dad bought us a huge leg of lamb so we had a LOT of leftovers from that to use up and I thought it would be a good start to my batch cooking mission to use it to make some meals to go … [Read more...]
