1) When I cleared out Master Frugal's room this week I realised that there was a huge amount of Lego that he never played with any more plus various other toys from other the years. I made some of it into a pen pot holder to go on his desk and I'm so pleased with it. It was really easy to make - I just used a small flat Lego board from one of his kits and built up around it to the height I wanted which turned out to be 12 layers.2) We made our own Fathers Day cards using nothing but paper and sharpies - no special equipment or talent needed here. I can't reveal them before the big … [Read more...]

Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {27th May 2016}….
I'm not sure if I can class this week as a frugal week if I'm honest as I've had so much on that I don't think I've had the chance to be particularly thrifty....1) I went out for a meal to Pizza Express on Wednesday night with my lovely team at work which you might think would have been an expensive night out but actually, we used buy one get one free vouchers for the pizzas (just Google pizza express vouchers and see what comes up) and I drank water rather than buying a drink. To be fair, the water was more of an accident as I had a slightly sore throat so I asked for a glass of water … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {22nd April 2016}….
1) We had a lovely tea last Saturday of fish, chips and mushy peas - made even lovelier by the fact that the whole meal cost less than £3 for us all which was a bargain for any meal, let alone the meal we had! The fish fillets were beautiful quality and were reduced from £3 for a pack of two to a bargain 42p. I bought three packs so we had a fillet and a half each with some homemade chips made in our airfryer using fry light spray (making them Slimming World Friendly) and some much mushy peas.2) I finally found a couple of ice cream Sundae glasses at the car boot sale last weekend and at … [Read more...]

Super easy shortbread recipe 60g Butter 125g sugar 180g plain flourWe cheated a bit with this and used our electric mixer rather than mix everything by hand but you can do it either way depending on how much time you have. We were on our way out … [Read more...]
Five Fabulously Frugal Things I’ve done this week {15th April 2016}….
1) On Tuesday we decided to have lazy tea instead of what we had planned so we used some naan breads from the freezer that I'd bought for 9p, a pathetic looking green pepper, the last of the leftover ham from our Sunday dinner and some pepperoni that Mr Frugal bought on his way home from work to make some cheap but very delicious pizzas.Even the cheese was frugal as I'd bought a bag of pizza cheese a while ago and portioned it up to pizza sizes for the freezer. Miss Frugal isn't a cheese fan usually but she does like pizza cheese and she loves the odd homemade pizza so I try to always … [Read more...]
My Spring resolution update….
April seems to be flying by and I'm already two weeks into my Springtime resolution which was to lead a healthier lifestyle. On the whole I think I've done quite well so far this month with a total weight loss of 3lbs - less than my target of 2lb a week but I'm not going to beat myself up over it as I really am trying.Food wise, I've found that being organised is definitely the key to my success and that I need to plan my meals quite strictly for the week ahead so I have something in he house for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day! If I don't then I'm liable to (a) eat whatever is … [Read more...]
