Right, unlike last week I'm feeling pretty confident that I'll get to five easily this week!1) Did you see my new meal planner and matching pictures that I made from some cheap Ikea frames and a free wallpaper sample? They're hiding some awful greasy blu tac marks on the kitchen wall so not only do they look great, they've also saved me from having the hassle of painting AND they're giving me a much needed boost in the meal planning department.2) Last Sunday was a great de-clutter day for me. I sorted out all the kids DVDs and took them to our local cash converters where they … [Read more...]

This week’s meal plan {21st March 2016}….
It's been a good while since I've shared my meal plan with you all hasn't it?We've not been doing too badly with our meal planning lately but I know there's a lot more we could be doing to be even better - and by better, I mean saving more time as well as more money by being more organised. Our new freezer was delivered yesterday so I'm hoping that I'm going to be able to fill that with batch cooking delights and that one big batch cooking session every now and again will be enough to keep us fully stocked. I'm just starting to get it sorted now and out Muscle Foods delivery isn't … [Read more...]
My Super sneaky sleepover tip to get younger kids settled earlier….
Miss Frugal has always loved a good sleepover with her friends and over the years we've had a lot of them!Sleepovers are very different to what they used to be now that she's 13 (and a half ;-)) because the kids are sensible enough to know that whatever they're doing, they need to do it quietly because Miss Frugal understands now that if they're not quiet, then I will hear them and next time she asks for a sleepover, I'll say no!It's much easier for a teenager to understand the need to be quiet but it's not so easy to expect younger children to simply go to bed when they're told and … [Read more...]
Let me show you just how far you can stretch a gammon joint….
Gammon was pretty much the first meat that Master Fussy-Eater Frugal would eat and even now, it's still one of his favourite meals. It's also really versatile so we tend to buy a small gammon joint every week and although we love a good old mid-week roast dinner, I do try and mix it up a little bit - especially with the leftovers that we always have. I thought you might like to see how far you can stretch a gammon joint by showing what I've made with ours. Before I go on to what we do with our gammon joint, I should really recommend that you always buy the next joint of meat you can … [Read more...]
My blogging photography essentials – everything from cameras to lenses and from apps to editing…..
As a mum, taking photos is something that I do frequently and often more often than not, I just point and shoot without any thought for what's going to make a good photo. My aim with these photos is simply to capture a moment and I just use whatever camera is nearest to me (usually my iphone) and literally just point and shoot. It's a whole different ball game though when I think of myself as a blogger and the fact that there are pictures I take specifically to share on here with you all. Obviously, you see lots of my spur of the moment shots as well but some of the pictures I take as a … [Read more...]
Review: Retro Slushie Maker….
I remember asking Santa for a Mr Frosty every year between the ages of around 6 and 12 but for some reason, he was never in my pile of presents on Christmas morning. I never gave up hope though and one Christmas many year later, my patience was rewarded when Mr Frugal presented me with a Mr Frosty and a bag of ice!I couldn't wait to get started at making the amazing slushies that I'd dreamed about as a child so decided have a Christmas morning slushie which wasn't as great an experience as I'd hoped for. For starters, the handle you turned to crush the ice was so stiff that I had red … [Read more...]
