I often find myself googling 'free things to do in' whatever place I'm visiting so I thought I'd start a series of blog posts featuring free things to do in various parts of the country. I'm starting today with free things to do in Middlesbrough.I feel like Middlesbrough gets a bit of a bad deal when it comes to people's opinions of what it's like to live there. Yes, it's an industrial town and yes, people who live in Middlesbrough are often referred to as Smoggies and yes, it's more often than not somewhere near the top of any 'worst place to live' lists but there's a lot … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {6th March 2020}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. 1) So this one isn't all that money-saving for me but it will be for whoever gets the benefit so I'm sharing it anyway. :-)I took all of Master Frugal's ski things into school and asked them to pass them on to someone who'll be going on next year's school ski trip. He's growing so quick that even if he was to go skiing again in future, he'd need new things … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan {2nd March 2020} ….
Oh my word, how is it possibly March already?Remember last week when I did all that batch cooking? Well, it's a good job that I did because I ended up unexpectedly working away for half the week so if I hadn't have been so prepared then I can easily see last week descending into a week of takeaways and junk food without me here. ;-) It was brilliant to be so far from home and still be able to let the kids know what was for tea! I still have some mince and onions and some bolognese in the freezer from my adventures last weekend and I made a big batch of … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {28th February 2020}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. 1) Did you see Sunday's batch cooking triumph?I won't go into too much detail as I write a whole post about it on Monday but basically, I spent some time on Sunday batch cooking this week's meals. I made all sorts and at one point I had something in the oven, something cooking on the hob and the Instant Pot and slow cooker doing their thing on the … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the one I batch cooked on Sunday….
This food we're eating this week was almost all prepared on Sunday as part of a batch cooking session!I'm really struggling with meal planning at the moment as I'm not getting in from work most days until 6 pm - by which time the kids have usually already had a cheeky snack and don't really want what I've planned to cook. This week, I'm trying to up my game though so yesterday, I spent a couple of hours batch cooking all of our meals for this coming week. I absolutely know that batch cooking is the way to go and anyone who's been around for a while might … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things we did this week {21st February 2020}….
Every week I share five frugal things that I've done during that week just to show you that the small things you do all add up to a great frugal lifestyle where you can learn to live a fabulously frugal life. I feel like this week has been quite a frugal week without me even trying particularly hard - I love it when that happens! 1) I went to make some Pizza Chips earlier this week and realised that I had no tomato puree which is pretty essential to the recipe. I considered going to the shop to get some but decided against it because (a) I knew I'd buy … [Read more...]
