Every January I make at least one New Year’s Resolution that involves the house and last year was no exception. I promised myself that I would get the hall, stairs and landing painted (not an easy job with such a high ceiling) and that I would do the downstairs bathroom out as we’ve never bothered since we moved in really.
Fast forward, 11 and a half months and here I am sat here wondering where the time has gone with the same grubby hallway and the same boring bathroom.
Both rooms are painted in the same boring magnolia paint that the builder used when they first decorated the house and it’s at the point now where if I try to give it a good clean, the paint comes off with the muck. 😉
So I may only have a couple of weeks left this year to complete my New Years Resolutions but I have a plan….
The hallway is sorted as a friend of a friend of a friend is coming to paint it for me tomorrow for the amazingly brilliant price of £30! He said if I do the fiddly bits like the skirting boards and the banister (which I don’t think need doing really) then he’ll crack on with the rest and will be done in a day. I’m going for white because it’s a dark hallway and I like the idea that I can just paint over any stubborn marks. I’ve got some lovely canvases that I’ll put up to add colour.
This just leaves the bathroom and I’ve been searching for bathroom ideas online and on Pinterest but the best place and I’ve come across some great ones which are really do-able, these one’s really caught my eye:

I really love the bright colours but I actually think I’m going to continue the white theme in there too which means that I can get on with that this week using the leftover paint from the hall, stairs and landing.
I have a couple of bright prints on the wall at the moment which I’ll keep in there and I think a new towel and mat for the floor will finish it off lovely and I can say that I’ve achieved what I wanted to achieve at home this year.
I’ll let you know how I get on this week….
