I have made a small batch of cheese straws now and the kids are in the middle of eating their second one so I am guessing that they are a success and that I need to make a bigger batch to freeze for school dinners.
The recipe that I used was:
150g Self raising flour
Instructions for Cheese Straws

This is the bit where you should really cut into strips of dough for the ‘straws’ but as ours were for the kids lunchboxes, we decided to use some of our cookie cutters and make cheesey shapes.
When you have your straws or shapes, use the egg mixture you saved and brush each shape and then sprinkle the shapes with the leftover cheese. I used greasproof paper to put mine on to make sure that they didn’t stick when they were done.
Cook for about 10 minutes or until the cheese is all bubbly and they are a nice golden colour.
These look adorable, brilliant for kids. They also look somewhat puffy which I'm sure makes them all the more delicious. How long do you think they would keep not being frozen? And if you were to freeze them, what container would you put them in/bag?
I have a post on cheese straws too, would love you to have a look!

Thank you for your visit and kind comments. I have found your posts are very similar so I will be reading with interest. You asked about 'Buddy's Friday'. We are a small group that started around six months ago. Our aim is to help those who are finding it difficult to manage financially but showing how things were done before the throw away society started. It can be about cooking, gardening, sewing, how to cope with Christmas, birtdays etc – anything really. My aim is to show that frugal doesn't mean cheap and nasty. If you have anything you would like to contribute such as your cheese straws recipe, just drop me a line and I will include a link. You are free to use the Buddy's Friday picture for your posts.
Hope to hear from you
