I seem to have rather a lot of jalapenos to use up so today, I’m going to share some of the more interesting recipes that use jalapenos that I’ve found on my search for inspiration.
In case you’re wondering why I have a lot of jalapenos to use up, it’s because I discovered three unopened jars in my food cupboard when I was clearing it out last week. I knew I had one jar as I like to keep some in for nachos and to add to my slow cooker chilli but the extra two were hidden at the back where I rarely look as that’s where I keep my hardly ever used things!
I took a fair amount of the the tins and packets I had in my cupboard down to the food bank as some of the things have been sat there for ages and I figured that someone else could get some use out of them while I got to clear out my cupboard at the same time. It was getting to the point where it was so full that I couldn’t really see what I had in (hence the jalapeno discovery) and the things that were cluttering it up were the tins and packs of things I’ve just accumulated since I last cleared it out.
I need to learn that whilst an offer of 3 tins for a pound (or something similar) is brilliant, if I only need one tin then there’s no point ‘saving money’ by buying more. The multiple tins of chickpeas and spaghetti hoops in my cupboard back this up.
Anyway, back to my jalapeno issue. 🙂
I use them in nachos and chilli but that’s about it to be honest so I turned to my favourite place for inspiration on just about anything and found a whole range of recipes that use jalapenos. Rather than share the bog-standard potato skins, quesadillas and pizzas that seem to be the norm, I thought I’d so something a bit different today and share some of the more interesting recipes with you.
There’s some (lots) of recipes on this list that are way outside my comfort cooking zone as I like quick and easy but they look amazingly delicious and I’ve been saying for ages that it’s time to spice up my cooking (see what I did there) so I’m going to give a few of them a go.
