I don’t know about you but I sometimes have days where I feel like I’m on my feet and on the go from the moment I wake up until bedtime finally arrives!
Take today for example….
I got up early to drop Master Frugal off at a school event which lasted two hours and while he was there, I took Miss Frugal into town to buy some new school trousers and a couple of bits she needed for the presents she’s making for her friends at school. We got back in time to pick Master Frugal up and then we had a quick lunch before taking the dog for a walk in the woods near us and then it was back out again to a Christmas Fayre. I’ve then dropped Miss Frugal at a friends for a sleepover and done next week’s food shopping!
Not all days are like today but when they are, my feet really ache by the time I finally get to sit down which is why I’m a fan of Miss Frugal’s latest little DIY creation – Refreshing homemade peppermint foot scrub!
Refreshing Homemade Peppermint Foot Scrub
½ cup coconut oil
1½ – 2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon peppermint extract (she used the stuff from the cooking aisle although I bet a peppermint essential oil would have been even better.
1 capful green food coloring
- Melt the coconut oil gently in the microwave – short blasts are best so it doesn’t burn.
- Add the peppermint extract and the colouring to the coconut oil and give it a little stir.
- Nest you need to add the sugar, we used two cups which was perfect and our foot scrub feels quite coarse and ‘scrubby’ if you know what I mean. If you use less sugar then it will be gentler on your skin as it will be slightly softer. Does that even make sense? 😉
- If you want it to look greener then add some more colouring at this point (not too much though) and give it a good stir but apart from that you’re good to go!
So if your feet need a treat at the end of the long day then I’d really recommend whipping up a batch of Miss Frugal’s homemade peppermint foot scrub.
(She also does a lip scrub which is great for keeping your lips happy at this time of year)
