For my Birthday last week Mr Frugal surprised me with a Bellabeat Leaf which is something I’ve been wanting for a while. The Bellabeat Leaf is basically a pendant that tracks your sleep cycles, your activity, your breathing and your monthly cycles AND looks pretty at the same time which is always a plus. 😉
You can wear it as a bracelet, a necklace or even just clipped on to your clothes. I tried it as a bracelet but I couldn’t get the strap to sit right so it didn’t feel comfortable so I’ve been wearing it as a necklace. The bracelet strap that it comes with is quite small I think but if you message them online then they’ll send you a slightly larger one out. The strap fit me but I wondered if a larger one would help it sit better so they’re sending me one out as we speak. I hope that helps as I really like the idea of wearing it as a bracelet!
The Bellabeat Leaf is a bit different to the usual fitness trackers as it doesn’t have a display on it which means that you need o rely solely on the app for any data. It took me about a minute to sync the Leaf to the app and from there it’s all pretty simple although it doesn’t auto sync the data between the app and the Leaf so you need to remember to sync it manually each time.
The app is split into various different sections – the first being activity where you can set yourself a daily steps target and add in any other activities that you do. You can then track your progress towards your goal and check your distances walked and calories burned.
The next section is the sleep tracker which I haven’t used yet as I haven’t found a way to wear the Leaf overnight. I don’t like sleeping in necklaces and I wear a nightie so I have nothing to really clip it to. Hopefully when I wear it as a bracelet then I’ll be OK to sleep in it as I’d really like to track my sleep a little better.
The next part of the app is my favourite part as it helps me to de-stress and focus a little bit. It’s a meditation app that keeps track of how much meditation you do. Again you can set yourself a daily/weekly target and there are short mediation exercises on there for all sorts of scenarios as well as some breathing exercises.
There’s a stress sensitivity checker which takes into account the exercise, sleep and meditation that you’re doing and works out what your stress sensitivity is and how that compares with the day before.
And the final part of the app is the period tracking which is actually quite cool and interesting to know. Apparently it’s one of my fertile days right now which would be a great extra if that was something that I needed to know. 😉
Now I happen to know that Mr Frugal bought mine off eBay where he managed to buy it brand new for £50 as he’s been checking almost daily since I told him about them. He was willing to pay more to be honest as he thought it would really help me but as he had time to spare before my Birthday he set an search up on there so he was emailed when one came up. It’s the silver one rather than the rose gold that he knew I would love but he figured (rightly so) that I’d rather have a bargain silver one than a rose gold one at double the price!
Having had this a week though, I can highly recommend getting one if you want to focus on looking after yourself a bit more. It’s so much more than a normal activity tracker and I would definitely have felt like I’d got a good deal even if Mr Frugal had paid full price for it!
You can find them on Amazon here but it’s definitely worth having a search on eBay for them as you can get them so much cheaper.
