Miss Frugal has long been a fan of fruit smoothies and our smoothie maker is used on a daily basis. In fact, it’s the main reason that I often pop to the supermarket on a night to check out the reduced section because if I was paying full price for all the fruit we use in smoothies then I’d never have any spare money!
We have a lot of love for the smoothie makers (yes, we have two) we already have but for the last few months Miss Frugal has been coveting a Nutribullet. To be honest, I can’t say I blame her after seeing the TV adverts but seeing as the smoothie makers we already had did a great job, I wasn’t willing to pay for another one because I didn’t really think we could improve on what we had.
Then last week an email from Homebase dropped in to my inbox asking if I wanted to review the Nutribullet. It was amazing timing as Miss Frugal had just had her braces fitted and was feeling a bit down because of the pain and the limitations on what she could eat whilst she was hurting.
It cheered her up no end, especially when we were told we could just go and collect the Nutribullet from our local store rather than having to wait for it to be delivered. This meant that no more than an hour after receiving the email, we were back at home with the Nutribullet and the huge haul of reduced price fruit that we bought on the way home!
She decided to have a bit of a smoothie party and invited our lovely next door neighbours round to sample her creations and took great pleasure in mixing them whatever they requested. This one is a blueberry and banana smoothie which was delicious!
The Nutribullet has made short work of everything we’ve thrown at it this week and it’s so easy to use that anyone can make a perfect smoothie. Just at how quick you can make one for yourself by having a watch of Miss Frugal’s video….
We also discovered just how easy it is to make slushies with the Nutribullet because it’s so powerful that it blends ice too. You need to either use a really juicy fruit like watermelon to make a slushy (or you could just add some juice I guess) because there does need to be liquid in with the ice for it to slushy it. ‘Slushy it’ is the technical term we’ve invented this week in case you were wondering!
Watermelon blended with ice is quite possibly the most refreshing thing I’ve ever tasted and it’s definitely been our favourite creation on the week.
What’s your favourite flavour smoothie?
