I am trying to be more sustainable wherever I can be so Wild Deodorant has been on my radar for a little while now but I just never got round to ordering some – until last month when I finally took the plunge. This is my experience of Wild Natural Deodorant…
Also, in case you’re curious – I paid for this product myself as it was something I wanted to try. I’m sharing my experience because, after so many years of blogging, I genuinely want to tell you about things I like (or don’t like).
I’m really trying to be more sustainable with everything I do and I am switching to more sustainable products wherever I can as long as (a) they’re not going to cost me a lot more and (b) they’re genuinely a good alternative to the products I usually use.
Wild Deodorant is a sustainable natural deodorant which is delivered right to your door with single purchase and subscription options available. It’s a refillable deodorant that’s made from natural ingredients and boasts that it’s made the world’s first zero-plastic deodorant refill.
I’ve been wanting to try this since the first time I saw it advertised because it does look like a great sustainable option to the deodorant that I was using previously but I just had a nagging feeling that something that sounds so good for the environment (and my skin too) was just too good to be true so it took me a little while to actually decide to give it a go.
What actually convinced me in the end was seeing a Facebook ad which sent me back to the site for about the fourth time since I’d first heard about the product. I decided that if I’d considered it this many times then I should just give it a go – it’s not like it’s super expensive or anything, I just didn’t want to waste my money on a product that didn’t work. I checked out the Trust Pilot reviews which seemed overwhelmingly good and decided I was going for it!
I ended up buying myself a Starter Kit of the Candy Floss scented Wild Deodorant with the pink case which cost me £10.80 after the Honey Browser extension that I have did the hard work finding me a discount code (if you don’t have it, you really need it).
My little package was delivered in just a couple of days and I know that what it looks like isn’t as important as the job it does but I loved how pretty the case was and how easy it was to set up. I was so eager to get it set up that I didn’t take a photo of the refill or me popping that into the case but it literally took ten seconds to do so if I can do it that quick then you can probably do it in five seconds. 😂
The important thing to understand about Wild Deodorant is that it’s a deodorant and not an anti perspirant and it lacks the aluminium salts that clog your pores to stop you from sweating so you will still sweat but it won’t smell. This wouldn’t have worked for me a few years ago as I did used to sweat a lot but luckily (and randomly) that’s not the case anymore so I’m OK with this, especially when I consider how much kinder to my skin it is and how much better it is for the environment overall.
I decided to try it for the first time on a day when I knew I had a lot on as I thought if it could make it through that day then I’d have the confidence in it to continue using it without being conscious of whether it was working so on it’s first use, it had to cope with a 5k walk on a hot day with lots of uphill bits that took an hour and a half to complete – I was practically on my knees by the end of it as it was a really hilly 5k to see a waterfall in the middle of nowhere but I didn’t smell sweaty in the slightest and although it does say that it doesn’t prevent you from actually sweating, I definitely think it reduced it based on how much I would have expected to sweat doing that!
After that, I came home and got ready for a night out at a 90s night in town and being honest, I did reapply the deodorant so it’s not like the same few swipes coped with the walk and my night out but I had a shower and wanted to make sure I was fresh. 😂
The re-application didn’t have it’s work cut out though with an hour stuck in the corner of a packed pub on the hottest day of the year followed by the best two hours I can remember at the 90s Live show which is definitely something I’d recommend if it’s visiting a town near you – best £26 I’ve spent this year easily! I was stood dancing and singing along with every one else from the first song to the last and had no issues at all!
After that first day, I was confident that it could cope with pretty much anything so I’ve just been using it as part of my daily routine and am super happy with the way it’s working for me personally.
The candyfloss scent is absolutely gorgeous so I’ve stuck to that one for my subscription refill order but it’s just a limited edition so after that I’ll probably have to choose a different one which is not hardship looking at all the different options they have! Each refill is supposed to last 4-6 weeks based on the fact that they say you only need two swipes under each armpit for it to work but I always add an extra couple just for my own confidence so mine will definitely be nearer to the four week mark when I need a refill so I have my first pack due to come in a month and then every three months after that.
They work out at £15 for three for the refills so £5 each as part of the subscription which puts it at £5 per month for me on what I think my usage will be which does put it at a more expensive price point that the anti perspirant I was using previously but it’s not much more in the grand scheme of things and I’m happy to pay that small amount extra for the benefits to the world and to my skin.
I bought mine from the We are Wild website and they do have an offer at the moment if you use my Wild Refer a Friend link then you’ll get a free case which is worth £7. I get 20% off my next order with them when you sign up too but if I’m honest, I’ve already got four friends onto it using my refer a friend link and the subscription that I’ve signed up for is three monthly so I’m pretty much set for the year now. 😂 I’m sharing the link more so you can get the free case because it’s a good little saving if you do want to try out the Wild Deodorant range!
Boots also sell a limited range online too so you might prefer to buy from there so you can collect Advantage Points too! The prices on the Boots website are actually the same (today at least) as the prices on the Wild website AFTER the discount so if you’re not going to go for the subscription option on the Wild website and you’re just going to buy as and when you need it then it makes sense to buy from Boots and get some points. Also, if you have Honey, I’ve had a fair amount of success in the past on the Boots website with a cheeky discount code so you could even get it cheaper too!
Wherever you buy it from, I definitely recommend that you give it a go – I’m super happy with my purchase!
