Today I’m going to share how to get FREE food with the Shopmium app!
OK, I know I’m a bit late to the party on this one but one of you lovely people emailed me a couple of weeks ago to ask me what I thought about the Shopmium App and I had to hold my hands up and say that I’d never used it. I’ve since put that right and now I’m an absolute convert! 😂
Honestly, I’ve seen people talking about the Shopmium App so many times and it’s been on my to-do list to try for a good couple of years but I’ve just never got around to actually downloading the app and having a go. I’m kicking myself now though!
What is the Shopmium App?
The Shopmium App is available to download on both IOS and Android and promises to save you money on your shopping every week by giving you cashback on a wide range of products either by making them free or discounted. You make the purchase as you usually would and then to claim your cashback, you just have to take a photo of your receipt and scan the product barcode. It’s as simple as it sounds, there are no minimum payouts and it takes a maximum of two working days for the money to be paid to you so you’ll see a benefit pretty much straight away.
What kind of offers are available?
So far, I’ve had a couple of free products – Iron Bru, Maltesers, and some amazing tasting yoghurt. I’ve also bought some reduced price stuff like 9 Kleenex toilet rolls for a pound and some Yorkshire tea for £2.50 and I’ve had a weekend cashback boost where I earned an extra £2 cashback for claiming two items back. There’s offers on there right now for free Dr Pepper and Diet Coke among other things so it’s well worth having a look.
These are some of the offers I’ve had in the last couple of weeks:
I do love the fact that there’s also a product checker in the app where you can scan the product before you buy it just to double-check that you’ve got the right one before you buy it which I really should have used when I bought the squeezy primula as I picked up the wrong one and didn’t get the light version so it wasn’t eligible for the cashback. My fault completely but a lesson to you to use the barcode checker if you’ve got any doubts. 😂
On average there are savings of around £50 a week although that claim only holds if you would have bought the discounted products anyway if that makes sense – there might be £2 off a pack of Yorkshire Tea which is a good saving if you would have bought it anyway. Having said that though, sometimes the savings are that good that I do buy things I wouldn’t normally buy as a cheeky treat for us.
Is the Shopmium App worth the effort?
I personally think that using the Shopmium App is worth the effort – you’re never going to make a fortune with the cashback and you’re not going to be able to do a full-on weekly shop just using the deals but for the time it takes then it’s worth the effort! Honestly, it takes so little time to quickly scan through what purchases will qualify before you shop – I take screenshots so I have them on my phone. Then when you get home you literally take a photo of the receipt and then scan the barcodes of any products you’ve bought.
You’re going to come across loads of your favourite brands but also, you should discover some new brands that you might just love and wouldn’t have discovered if you didn’t get your first purchase free or discounted.
