I have had a lovely day today, all of the parents were invited into school to do some activities with the kids so both me and Mr Frugal managed to finish work early to go. Master Frugal had sports all afternoon so we spent the whole afternoon with Miss Frugal in her classroom.
There were different activities set out on each table and we chose to make some Christmas tree decorations and to write a Christmas poem. Miss Frugal was really proud of hers and read it out to anyone who would listen:
I love Christmas
I love presents
Merry Christmas
To everyone
It didn’t have to rhyme but each line had to have four beats, which I would have thought was a bit compilcated for a class of 6/7 year olds but they were well away with it.
One of her friends wrotea bit of a strange one:
Christmas Dinner
Christmas Dinner
Yuk Yuk Yuk Yuk
Yuk Yuk Yuk Yuk
I wouldn’t like to be going to their house for Christmas Dinner!
Our Christms decorations looked really good too, we just stuck as many sequins as we could on to a star shape using PVA glue. Can you remember PVA glue? If you spread a thin layer on your hand or arm and wait for it to dry you could peel it off, I used to love doing that – weird or what.
The highlight of my afternoon though was when Mr Frugal was sat on one of the little chairs when a little boy came up to him and hugged him, not just a quick hug but a really loving one that lasted about 20 seconds – Poor thing didn’t know where to put himself.
I also managed to get to the bottom of the mystery of how the kids come home with felt tip on their hands every night. It’s because they don’t use exercise books for their writing and sums practice anymore, they use mini whiteboards! When they have done their work, they get it checked and then wipe it off…. If they can’t be bothered to wait for the whiteboard rubber then they do it the quick way – with the side of their hand.
