I'm so sick of this snow but I have to admit that there's something very magical about if from a kids point of view, especially at this time of year. They never seem to tire of playing in it and I've never made so much hot chocolate in my life!Seeing as we're stuck in the house today, we decided to have a Snow day and do lots of snow related things (I know, we live a very exciting life don't we?). We started the day snuggled up on the settee with our quilts watching Snow Buddies which is actually quite good for a film starring five talking dogs and then, after a quick Google for other … [Read more...]

The one with the Brain Scan….
Yesterday was brain scan day for Miss Frugal. Apart from letting her know what to expect, we'd tried not to talk about the scan too much beforehand as we didn't want to make it into a big thing which we thought would have made her more nervous than she was. Our plan worked to a certain extent as she didn't seem overly concerned about it - until we picked her up from school early yesterday to go to the hospital that is. She was very quiet on the journey there and had a scared look on her face (you know the one, wide eyes, sad mouth) that no amount of cuddling and holding hands would get rid … [Read more...]
How to Spend a Bank Holiday Monday….
Despite having the last week off work, as of this morning I hadn't done the majority of things on my week off 'to do list' (Yes, I really did write one ;-)) As I'm back at work tomorrow, that left me today to do it all.... Top of my list was to sort out more storage for Master Frugal's room as he has the smallest room in the house with enough toys and books in there to fill five rooms. Ages ago I'd bought some colourful storage crates and some shelves to put them on but I hadn't got around to building them as I couldn't face the mammoth task of sorting the toys out when they were built and … [Read more...]
Dear Children….
When I read that the Friday Club prompt for this week was to share five things I want my children to know about me, I thought I might give this one a miss because I really couldn't think of five things that they don't already know. Then, a post I read over at Typecast about making memories for our children made me think about what my first memory was which made me realise that my memories aren't written down anywhere. My children and their children will be able to look back at my blog and remember lots of the fun and special moments we had together but I can't do that, I just have whats … [Read more...]
Get Crafty – Mini Homemade Books….
Today in the Frugal household, we have one ill (and whingey) five year old, one very energetic eight year old, one very tired mummy and one absent daddy.Trying to find something to keep us all occupied and happy was a bit of a challenge this morning but we managed a happy hour or so making some homemade books. All you need for this is a sheet of A4 paper, some colouring pens and a pair of scissors so it was ideal for us today as we couldn't be bothered with any faffing about. We followed the instructions in the video below to make the book - it literally takes a minute to do and is … [Read more...]
