Do you have a Bored Jar?I've seen a few posts lately (like this one from Jen) about people making 'I'm bored' jars filled with ideas that are randomly chosen whenever anyone mentions the dreaded bored word and a quick search on Pinterest tells me that the makeshift jam jar filled with bits of folded paper is woefully inadequate* - just have a look at this little lot.(*only joking, it's the ideas that count not the presentation although there are some works of art on there aren't there?)We decided to update our I'm bored jar and make our own version using coloured lolly … [Read more...]

Getting Organised – and staying that way….
It's no secret that I'm not the most organised person in the world ;-)But I am trying and I've been experimenting with different ways to be more organised because I know that I really do need to be better, not only with time management but with remembering dates and places that we need to be. I took the above photo on the beach last week while I was sitting in the sand feeling more relaxed than I have done in a long time and I'd like to have more moments like that and less of the kind where I'm running around trying to organise something at the last minute.I've tried using the … [Read more...]
This week’s meal plan – the start from scratch edition….
Was it Old Mother Hubbard who had no food in her house (I think she's the one who lived in a shoe with bare cupboards but I could be wrong)? If it was, then our house is like Old Mother Hubbard's house at the minute as we have no food in at all thanks to our week away last week and my general can't be bothered to go shopping attitude since we got home on Saturday. I just keep putting it off because I know that we have nothing in at all - usually we have at least some things in and I make our meal plan loosely based on that but this week, it's like starting from scratch. There's … [Read more...]
Is it really the thought that counts….
This morning I got up really early to catch up on some work before everyone else got up and chaos descended over the house. Instead, I made the mistake of having a look on eBay and Facebook before getting started - just for a few minutes you understand.Except I saw a link on Facebook to a recent news article that made me stop and think just how ungrateful some people could be. So I decided to write about that instead of doing the things I needed to do!Basically the story was about a bride who, in a series of texts to one of her guests, was extremely rude to one of the guests about the … [Read more...]
Thrifty Thursday – Five frugal things I’ve done this week….
It's been a bit of a busy week here this week but I've still had time to save some money - I even managed to make a bit of extra money as well....I'm not sure if it's a new thing or not but my latest energy bill has a section on that tells me what I would be paying on each of my suppliers tariffs. I noticed it when I got my bill earlier in the week as it said that there was a new online tariff that would save me some money so I rang them and changed over. I do review my energy suppliers every six months or so to make sure I'm on a good deal but I was really pleased that my … [Read more...]
Meal Planning Monday – the looking for inspiration edition….
Can you believe it's June already?I don't know about you but at this time of year, even when the weather isn't great, we tend to eat differently. We eat a lot less of the comfort food style meals like mince and dumplings and macaroni cheese and a lot more simple meals that take less time and energy to prepare - yeay.We change our meal plans in the Summer for a few reasons. I think it's mainly because when it's nice outside we want to be outside as much as possible so quick meals are great to just throw together whenever we get in with very little planning or preparation needed. We … [Read more...]
