1) We're planning an epic homemade pizza making night for tea tonight! We have a little bit of leftover chicken from last night and a bit of gammon leftover from the night before along with a tin of pineapple, some mushrooms that are just about to be past their best and a red onion. We'll be using our homemade pizza recipe and letting everyone add their own toppings so it's going to be a super cheap, use up everything in the fridge kind of tea!2) The men of the house went to a football match last weekend so Miss Frugal and I had a bit of a girly afternoon which involved Sunday Lunch … [Read more...]

‘Vague’ meal planning for beginners….
The changeable weather at this time of year is definitely making meal planning a bit more challenging....The weather makes it difficult to know what to plan for tea at the moment! If I plan ahead for a roast dinner at the weekend, and then the sun comes out then everyone wants something lighter than a full on Sunday dinner because, let's face it, no-one fancies a big roast dinner while the sun's shining (or at least we don't).I've been quite vague with my meal planning lately to combat the changing weather that we're seeing at the moment. By vague I mean that I'll write a main … [Read more...]
85 things to do with your family this year….
Have you had a think about what you want from 2018? If one of those things is to spend more time with your family then this is definitely the post for you as I'm sharing my list of 85 things to do with your family this year. This year, Miss Frugal will turn 16 and Master Frugal will hit 13 so to me, it's more important than ever that I spend as much time as I can having fun with the kids because I'm very aware that at some point soon, they're going to decide that it's not cool to spend time with their parents. ;-)I've been having a think of some things that we can do together at … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {22 December 2017}….
Oh my goodness, I can't believe it's Christmas on Monday!I may struggle to think of five things today as this is a really hard time of the year to be frugal, isn't it?1) You might have read about this one if you're a member of my Facebook group but a few years ago now, I shared a site that I was working with called Swagbucks. They're a great site where you earn points to swap for vouchers just by completing surveys, downloading apps, signing up for free trials and referring friends among other things. I'd earned a £25 Amazon voucher on there quite quickly and shared it with you all … [Read more...]
Christmas melted colourful crayons….
I first blogged about melted crayon cakes way back in 2011 but last weekend, I made a Christmassy version of them that I thought you might like to see today....When I first made my colourful crayons, it was way back in 2011 and the kids were still fans of colouring and drawing so the idea was to melt together all of the random stubby bits of crayon that were at the bottom of their drawing boxes. This time around, I made them as something to do when I was looking after my favourite four-year-old so I actually bought the crayons rather than using up scrappy bits - not as frugal I know … [Read more...]
Five Frugal Things I’ve done this week {15 December 2017}….
1) I've made a batch of my amazing candy cane spoons this week ready to go with my snowman soup which I make each year. They look amazing and are great to stir any hot chocolate with!I had a bit of a thing with candy canes last year and made everything from candy cane vodka to candy cane body scrub! I even tried to make a candy cane wreath too but that went a bit wrong!2) I was in Morrisons one night this week when the team were reducing the flowers and plants that were past their best and after being pushed aside by the 'professional' bargain hunters and witnessing one such pro … [Read more...]
